I think we'd be better off without them tbh, i'm sure some of the kit they sell has applications in illegal drug taking too.

How would you be better off? How does the existence of these shops interfere with your life in anyway?

Spot on Cap'n never been in one, and never will.

Read my post, injest all the stuff you like in these Head Shops, but if and when your head is fcuked from this stuff, then don't expect me,the taxpayer to support or bail you out.

Stew in your own spores pilgrim.

You are not reading my posts, smoke, chew, inhale anything you like in headshops, don't expect me to pick up the tab.

At the end of the day, adults are supposed to be mature enough to make their own decisions. If you buy something from a head shop, don't read the packet and then mess yourself up, you fully ****ing deserve it. I won't defend anybody taking substances they have no clue about, and then whinging about them afterwards. Its ***** like that that bring such a bad reputation on these substances, not the effects themselves.

Fine you may not like the stuff they sell, but at least have some respect for peoples rights not to live in a ****ing nanny state.

Its this point I have issue with. Do you think anybody is taking substances from head shops while thinking "at least if I get sick,FlutterinBantam/Darkjagers taxes will help me out?". I'd highly doubt it. Do you think the same when you overdo the pints? Again, I'd doubt it.

Personally, I have no time for the idiots who go and get plastered on alcohol every weekend, then end up in hospital because they couldn't ****ing behave in an "acceptable" fashion, but my taxes are being wasted patching these pricks up every single weekend, and I'd doubt any of them give a **** about that.

The programme was just another RTE/government agenda pushing bullshít propaganda to the masses to explain away the illegal raids on headshops recently.

Nothing more than that and big deal they sold to under 18's and broke no laws in doing so, whoop de fcking doo !

License money well spent by RTE and their "award winning" journalist puppet blah blah blah etc., etc.,

Anyway, those headshops should be selling blowjobs or be brought up for false advertising.

Hardly illegal though to pick them yourself when they grow naturally though is it ?

    Maybe it is, I dunno.

I think it is illegal. Or it's illegal to have them on you, so I suppose picking them you mean you have them on you unless you eat them right away which would be a bad idea, what with all the sheep crap on them.

Yes, because as we all know 1 gram of these substances can instantly cause waster disease.

What I am missing is my tax money paying to "sort out " those knuckle draggers who get fcuked up by the head shop stuff.

Fcuk yourself up all you like pilgrim,go the whole hog,but don't expect ME to pay

yeah, they will be putting the stuff in babies bottles next.

Emmm what you talking about? I've never been into a "head shop" in my life. Just commenting on the fact that i cant understand the whole point of sending a 14 and 16 year old girl into a shop to buy something that's not illegal. I mean RTE might as well of made a programme about a 14 year old going into Spar and buying a packet of tayto...thats what im missing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,575 ✭✭✭✭FlutterinBantam

It would appear that the owner of said shop said he did not serve under 18s

RTE send in a 14 year old with no ID and she is sold products.

A lot of people on this site seem to confuse "illegal" with "sensible"

It's not illegal to walk across a busy national road at 0830,but it's not sensible.

    Grow some brain stems people.

    Jeesh.

During my "teenage" years, we used to bring tents up to a certain field in the Dublin mountains and camp there overnight so at the break of dawn the next morning we would get the most ripe and best magic mushrooms. Used to save some for sure but would always just pick and eat straight away also.

Fun times though trying to find the way home, was an awful long long walk from the Dublin mountains out of your head with usually a couple of people in the horrors along with it.

For sure there was a lot of worms in the mushrooms, didn't really bother anyone about the sheep shít though. Or maybe the worms were in the shít, never really found out.

Ahh jaysus. You ate them without washing them?

I went picking them once with a guy who was later to end up on heroin. He used to take anything given to him (roofies washed down with beer and then some speed to wake up followed by another roofie (back when they were still available from the doctor) and even he washed them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,717 ✭✭✭Nehaxak

Nah, you can't wash them really as the bulk of the LSD (or whatever it is, pyscoblin or something) is on the hairs. So we all believed at the time anyway, dunno if that's actual fact though.

To be honest, we only found out about all the worms in the mushrooms after making a pot of tea with a bag of them, loads and loads of these little white things rose to the top of the cups after pouring.
After closer inspection on further pickings you could actually see them if you looked close enough.

Still though, nobody cared. It did become harder to eat them raw and most of us would make crisp sandwiches packed full of mushrooms to make them easier to swallow.

Even after some bad trips, I still think I had some of the most fantastic days and nights off my head as a teenager on mushrooms, nothing ever compared.
Made me more spiritual also and gave me a deep interest in the human brain itself and what it could do. When mass halucinations happened they were fabulous, nothing better than 10+ people all halucinating at giant 4 foot rabbits with big teeth running after you on Killiney hill :D

Anyway, really pisses me off that they made a natural thing like magic mushrooms illegal. Fair enough maybe at the pushing of them and the stronger types from around the world but the natural stuff you can pick a few months of the year yourself ? Nah, that's rediculous that they've made them illegal :(

    Brilliant.

Just watched the program there. The self righteousness of the presenter grates greatly.

All the old arguments. Alcohol? cigarettes? then shut the **** before pointing your finger.

Salvia kids on youtube? idiots, treat powerful stuff without respect and you get a slap on the wrist (and probably never do it again, good.) You don't down half a bottle of vodka in a minute and expect good results.

Looking forward to all the indignant outcry over the next few days of people quoting the programme without doing any other research, except perhaps the rush articles in the tabloids.

Alcohol is my only drug but I agree with others who say it wasnt illegal so what was the point. Ok maybe it wasn't sensible but when is the documentary of people narrowly making it across the road from an oncoming bus being aired? I'd say it'll be ratings gold...

Ever been in an off-licence? They would fall under many peoples definition of a head shop.

Alcohol is an industrial solvent for degreasing tractor engines. Both BZP & alcohol are also used as recreational drugs. Of course the media like to pick the most bizarre sounding usages to flog papers to gullible idiots lapping up their dangerous misinformation.

Just like profiteering publicans. It was always on the cards they would be illegal. Crazy that they were banned effectively overnight, it was a perfectly legitimate business, just like the pub trade, imagine trying to ban alcohol overnight. Banned in holland from tomorrow BTW, big industry over there.

It is illegal to be in possession of them, wet or dry.
Indeed, kinda knew I never saw that headline in the Herald.

My mates brother was done for jaywalking. The majority of people seem to break road laws while on foot, many of them the same hypocritical arseholes who go mad at people breaking similar or the same laws in a similar manner, but on a bicycle.

I heard some moron roaring like a stuck cow on the radio today after taking some substance from these "Head Shops"

    Should be shut down rapido.

These guys making nice little earners and the state taking care of their clients.
And what about the publican and the turf accountant?

I seriously dislike what you said, please reiterate

    I agree.

Was reading about the banning of psilocybin in the netherlands and some grower was complaining about his livelyhood disappearing.

Turns out he grew something like 25 tonnes of mushrooms a year (no exaggeration, got it off a dutch news agency) but my point is that mushrooms are viewed as a psychadelic drug. Isnt it against the very ethics of the whole psychadelic culture for some wanker to be making collosal money per annum from the product.

Don't you realize that they are hiding behind the 'we have to protect the children' banner to cause a reaction and force the government to close them down. Most 14 year old kids are interested in alcopops. Amiright?
