Fujitsu Siemens Primergy Server

    Folks, I need to upgrade a Fujitsu Primergy Server. The problem is it has a raid configuration, 6 slots with 3 of them filled with hot swap Fujitsu Ultra 320 SCSI drives. There's only around 80gb available and this is now almost full. What is the procedure for upgrading the capacity of a RAID setup? I have zero experience of RAID but I'm pretty confident around standard pc's. I know most scsi drives are 72gb but what options are available to increase this? All help greatly appreciated.

    can't add more disks to a raid array normally without breaking, recreating and putting the data back.

    How many free disks spaces do you have ?

    There are three free slots for hot swap drives. Is there no way of backing up the data and then lets say replacing the 3 drives with something larger like 750Gb?

    With 3 disks spaces, the easiest and least risky is to do the following :

    Add 3 disks the biggest you can afford (300GB are available for 3.5" disks).. create a RAID 5 array with them ( you will lose one disk for fault tolerance ) format in windows and assign a new drive letter.

    Now depending on what kind of server it is you can just use this new space with a new share name .. is the OS on the drive that is running out of space or is it seperate, what kind of services is this server running ?

    How difficult a job would that be? I just need extra storage for file share. I could move data onto a seperate drive letter. there is a manufacturing ERP system running on the server also. I dont know if the OS is on the same drive because I'm unfamiliar how RAID is structered.

    what drive letter is running out of space ? is it the c: drive with the OS on it or is it a different drive letter.

    Creating another array is fairly easy .. but if you don't know what your doing I'd get the providers of the server in and watch them. I assume this is a small business ?
