    OK,

    Rochie16 - 9 posts - Hi Ken :p
    Tommyboy2222 - 9 posts - Hi Ken ;)
Slaygal - 22 posts - Hi Ken

Ken, how much of a narcissist do you have to be to have a three way conversation with yourself?

Ken you are not clever, you're not funny, you're not even a very good football hack, so please don't overextend yourself into sports on which you clearly know sweet frick all. Thanks

I don't often listen to Off The Ball, but when i do i generally enjoy it... Not sure which guy on the show is Ken Early (i recognise the name, but as i don't listen all the time i don't know which guy is which) but i don't find any of them particularly annoying...

@Profiler - you really think someone would be bothered in creating 3 accounts to praise himself?? Maybe people just like him...

Ken, a rarity in Irish radio i.e. someone with talent.

This is a warning to everyone in the thread. Please note that in the radio forum there is:
    No insulting other members.
No personal insulting of radio presenters, just criticism directed to their radio programme and their skills at producing that programme.

And can we please stop accusing people who actually enjoy a presenter's skills of being the person themselves.

If this thread doesn't straighten up and fly right, it will be locked and possible bans handed out.

I say you have to admire Ken's prescience by joining in Jan 2005 and making over 3,600 posts just so he could ban those who have bad things to say about him.

    *legs it*

Ken Earley and the Off The Ball Show in general is easily the best thing on Irish radio at the moment. Some might say 3 hours each night is way too much but ,in my view, the more sport the better...

It grows on you. Early is quite goofy and I like the banter.

Yeah it's a good show alright. Did anyone here Ken sing out the show loast night to Erasure - little respect?

Used to love the show but I get the feeling their hearts aren't really in it. Difficult to with the schedule.
Its very, very lightweight when you take away the contributors which to be fair are excellent. A few of
the issues they've taken up in recent years would disappoint me, being pro Dessie Farrell and pay
for play and harping on about Mick and Saipan went over the line too. The 30c txt thing is a joke,
I used to send in a lot of txts and on 1 or 2 memorable occasions even managed to wind up
George Hook but I refuse to anymore.

The jokey lovein is BBC like and irritating, Early is smug and thinks he knows everything.

All that said, I still listen, its the best around by miles.

Early is smug and thinks he knows everything.

I doubt that he does think he knows everything. One of the ongoing jokes in the show is his generally woeful record at predicting results of matches. His style is very much tongue in cheek, but as a contributor to an entertaining radio sports show, i think he's excellent.

    Ken?

He has that smugness about him that says "I'm oh so intelligent". Always has an angle on everything, like Andy Gray.

To be fair, he is paid to analyse things and express opinions. Would you prefer if he didn't have an angle on everything?

Ken Early is essential listening for me. He always cracks me up with his deadpan style. I think people might be confusing that with smugness.

I like Ken and it surprises me that he causes such strong reactions. To me, he is utterly harmless and at times very funny.

Possibly the only main football correspondent on a national radio station in the world that doesn't attend games.

Shows too with his complete lack of understanding about the game. The off the ball faux guardian's fiver tripe grates after about 15 minutes.

He actually presented the guardian's football weekly podcast the last couple of days and was roundly criticised ion their forums etc.

But then most English football fans actually go to games

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,034 ✭✭✭deadhead13

The first of the football weekly podcasts was fine. He was out of his dept in the second one but wasn't help by two of the guests who seemed to resent him getting the gig. All very public schoolboyish.

Oh I realise that, and in fact he was using that in defence of Earley, but I saw the opportunity and grabbed it ;)
