LCD Extended Warranty - Yes or No?

Bought a 37" Samsung Series 4 LCD at the start of the month. I've 28 days to decide if I want to spend an extra E90 on an extended warranty (going from 1 to 3 years). Sales guy trotted out the customary scare stories about total failures a day after the warranty expiry, dying pixels, etc.

Question is for people who've bought LCD's - is it worth having the extended warranty?

Is it worth having an extended warranty on an LCD? 4 votes

Waste of money - forget it

For peace of mind its good but I don't think I'd need it

Really good idea - could reasonably see myself needing it

I'm sorry I didn't get one for my panny LCD projector. But.....the way I look at it is: They make money on the extended warranty. They're not giving it to you for poops and giggles. In general I don't bother with them unless I think there's a decent chance of failure and in your case I probably wouldn't bother.

How much are you spending on the TV?

Thanks for the reply. €700 for the tv, €90 for two years extra warranty.

And today the feckers (DID) are selling the same TV for the same price with 3 year warranty free...
