It was a retarded thing they did, but Gordon Brown commenting on it is really stupid.

People who complain about TV or radio shows are fucking cunts. If you dont like something then just stop watching or listening or reading. Its just idiots getting on their high horse about this.

If Johnathan Ross isnt on this Friday I'm gonna complain to the BBC about this travesty!!!!

How did you manage to not have your bad words asterisked out? Please tell.

Wait, two comedians did something offensive?
    Stop the presses

Everyone has an opinion on the 2 guys and thats fair enough. Love em or hate em, theyve both brought alot to comedy and are causing an uproar because they are well known - but thats earned. Im not a huge fan of Brand, but I do like Wossy....and hes had to deal with his fair share of slagging as well. Brand is amusing but hangs alot on who he has or hasnt slept with.

The outrage ala Joe Duffy is really over the age of the guy they were dealing with. Older people are more vunerable and who the hell would like their Grandfather to hear that their granddaughter has been shagged? Its offensive - no 2 ways about it. At least JR went and saw him and apologised. The least he deserves. The humiliation he must have felt listening to those messages would be terrible to see at 78 years of age. Lines have to be drawn somewhere.

It doesnt matter whterh people complained during or after the show - or even upon hearing the story, its the point where we define whats acceptable to dish to an older person thats in debate. And I think the line was crossed in a very unfunny Yore Ma kind of way. Having said that, sacking them is extreme. JR especially has contributed alot and is very funny, whereas Brand i can take or leave. (No pun intended!)

Its one thing to do this at street level but if your coming across the airwaves as a public figure, for a start what sort of example are you setting for listeners?
(If you wonder why kids are unruly today, them hearing this going on across common airwaves does not help to instil even a basic form of manners and decency)
Besides the huge money they are getting, the positions they hold is given to them along the understanding that they actually have a brain in their heads, to be able to tell the difference when and when not to cross the line.
If they can't even do that - they should be sacked, no question, no hesitation.

If they then go further and take the piss more so by their mock of an apology (which they did), its not that they should be sacked, they should be beaten around the head with a two by four!

If you think that is a bit strong, try being a parent in todays society.
Try installing some level of manners into your child when this sort of garbage is thrown at them across the airwaves!
People are out there today scratching their heads wondering why kids today are street brats and home thugs.
Such behaviour as Brand and co in combating their thuggishness DOES NOT HELP!
(and yes, I am a parent of three, soon to be four)

    SACK THEM.

Didn't say it was right and didn't say they shouldn't apologise but really I hope you have better parenting skills that a couple of stupid things like this would make you're kids go out and emulate this.
Also what the hell are your kids doing listening to Russell Brand's show it's clearly aimed at adults.
The reason kids turn into thugs by and large is because of bad parenting and socio-economic factors not a few dodgy incidents in the media.

I hate the won't someone think of the kids argument.

But if you want to go down this route what if one of your kids had done this would you call on them to be sacked from their job when a simple apology would suffice.
Ok they are public figures on the BBC and as such should be held to higher standards than the average person but really a trial by media and public moral outrage over this?

I would be much more worried for your children because of the fact that the reactionaries who run the Daily Mail seem to be gathering more power.

Fcuk sacking Brand and Ross someone please get rid of Rupert Murdoch

Well, thats things set to rights in Brit-land. We can now emmigrate there to rob their jobs without fear that our exotic dancing children be abused by celebrity prank calls in the future.

It was a daft thing to do and really inane. Whereas this is the kind of crap is what you'd expect from Brand but I didnt think Jonathan Ross would stoop to his level. On the other hand. This reactionary hysteria is typically OTT. As was mentioned, only 2 people complained about the broadcast, but as soon as the media jumped on the bandwagon, the complaints snowballed. FFS get over it. I remember similar controversy over the paedophile episode of Brass Eye. The politicians who condemned it, hadnt even seen it  It wouldnt surprise me if most of the complainants hadnt heard it.

Exactly, it's mountain out of molehills stuff. If there wasn't figures as polarising as Brand and Ross involved there wouldn't be half as much outrage. It's just that those two people have a "either you love them or hate them" quality that cause such extreme reactions.

I wish it were so, but he'll just show up again in a few weeks time doing exactly the same thing somewhere else.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

i cannot believe that Russell has resigned. If you listen to the actual call, it was Jonathan Ross who said it in the first place! That is grossly unfair.
