Multi-Room Speakers - connecting to PC / AMP or ?

Okay, so I have speakers in various rooms wired back to a central location. I have connected the various speakers to a switch so I can control what room I want to have playing, although I have to do this manually :(.

I have all my music on my HTPC which is connected via SPDIF to an Onkyo 605 AMP, and the AMP is then connected via ZONE2 to the speaker switch.

Now my issue becomes the ZONE2 on the AMP only does analogue, and I am feeding the AMP via SPDIF. I guess I could feed the AMP via analogue outputs from the PC motherboard, but wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions or improvements to my set-up to get it working well ?

I see lots of talk of Sonos, and Squeezeboz, is this something which could help me or ?

    Advice / suggestions welcome. :)

you connect the red/white zone2 output to the input of your distribution amp.

the digital SPDIF from your htpc will get decoded to stereo in the amp, leaving analogue stereo as the output to zone 2.

    Don't have a distribution Amp ! :(

I guess feeding analogue from the HTPC will get me the same result and seems the only easy option.
