Surge Protection travel adaptors for laptops

    Travelling to the US in a few days and it has just occured to me, can I use my laptop there using an ordinary travel adaptor or do I need to get one with surge protection?

    Anyone shed any light??

    ordinary travel adapter I would have thought?

    I used mine with a standard adaptor in both the US and Canada with no problems.

    It'll depend on if your laptop power supply can do 110v.

    im heading to tanzania in a few months...will I have to get some sort of special adaptor for my laptop to work there?

    thanks so much, I'm also havin stupendous amounts of trouble findin out if i can use my bank card there, I asked my bank and their reply was "dunno" which was mighty helpful, so if anyone can shed light on that one too i'll bring em back a stick of rock ;)
