LOL! The new Winter '08 model of Sam is good, obviously been educating himself on wit and style, and reading stuff!

My colloquial manner and speech are no measure of intelligence,

they are a measure of strength of character.

You frequently underestimate me Kev, frequent mistakes and the inability to learn are characteristics of something... :p

    lulz, eat winter '08 goodness

I refer you to the case of Captain Beck vs Arachnid 32,043 aka "Archie".

Captain Beck is accused of firing in a completely random manner with her incredibly oversized rifle without so much as looking at the target, let alone down the line of the rifle or through it's optics.

She also stands accused of looking damn sexy doing it.

The charges of not shouldering her rifle while in use have been dropped due to the hideously oversized rifle appearing to not actually have a stock in the first place.

For the above, the accused is found innocent of the first count by way of poor prop design and guilty of the second count. Her time will be served at a party in Dex's pants for a duration of 2 years.

The first film had, afaik, a ruger mini 14 under the prop, or an m14, at the ejector port, you could see that lovely bolt moving.
The grenade/shotgun variant was also cool.

But how the hell did the weapon makers of the future think these fantastic guns were to be aimed, using the seem line on top of the fibre glass moulding?

    Very progressive...

I'm not sure they were supposed to be aimed ? With the rate of fire and apparent unlimited ammo supply, maybe they were just designed to be pointed in the general direction of the target and waved about until the target falls over.

Why they didn't consider the lethality of the cheesy one-liners and clichés is beyond me. They could have won the war with by sending in Casper Van Dien to shout "See you on the bounce, trooper" at everything.

The first one is tongue-in-cheek fun but there's a whiff of trying to be serious with this one.

The weapons in the original were supposed to be big, loud and well over the top (albeit not necessarily practical). The original movie was a violent parody of the original 'Starship Troopers' novel, which suggested that to be a citizen, one needed to serve in the army (that book was also parodied by 'Bill, The Galactic Hero' - a great read). Of course, several years later, a certain George W. Bush stated in a speech that to be a good citizen you needed to do your bit in the War On Terror - a short step to actually being in a war to be a citizen.

Point in the general direction of the target and wave AEG about until the target falls over is how I usually play. Quite effective.
