Where did the act come from?

At what point in our evolution (thats right jesus mwahaha) did man decide to put up this charade of dressing up and pretending to be something we're not?

Did we do it out of bordom? Necessity? Or did someone in a cave all those years ago realise that if we put on pants and made people think that 'this is it' we could make that big spot in the night sky bigger?

Maybe these thoughts should be between myself, the toilet and the 4 walls of the cubical that fail to keep the stank in, but what the hell, might aswell ask the infinate wisdom of After Hours.
