I used to do this myself when I was in competitive sports. Its a form of meditation, walking the mind through the steps before you do it, and it has nothing to do with positive thinking or like attracting like. And oh yes, if there are 10 people in a race, it will have a 90% failure rate.

Wow, I'd bet the 1-2 million who lost their lives in Auschwitz (or the 40+ million in total during WWII) could have got great use out of this book, if only they had've known about 'the Secret' they might've survived.

I downloaded a copy of this but didn't get more than 10 minutes into it. The first problem was the American accents. As soon as I hear American accents in relation to self help I just think weirdos, cults, mass suicide, butplugs, scam. 2nd point is, it's not a very good secret now is it?

"The Secret" is bollix. Any theory that refers to an unspecified form of "energy", "energy frequency", "negative frequency" etc without knowing or telling exactly what form of energy is at stake, is bollox.

This is not groundbreaking and it is no mystery. It simply boils down to having a goal to follow. It is the reason why golfers learning to golf follow through with their swing, and surfers or windsurfers simply look in the direction they want to go when attempting to execute a turn - the body will generally follow where the eyes are looking.

The universe is a fascinating and vastly complex system of various forces - claiming that material success or happiness can be achieved through a grossly oversimplified "understanding" of these forces is a load of superstitious nonsense.

Oh it's not bollox. It's just unproven theory. Once the LHC is fixed, they can get around to isolating the energy particulons which regulate karma. Then you'll see!

Mirror neurons are a recent finding in neuroscience

They are neurons that fire when an action is observed as well as when it is performed. I don't think I've heard of muscles actually being triggered in the same manner though... if they were, then surely that would result in the subject's legs flailing about
