Breathable Roof membranes: well known brand versus the rest.

In the same way as "hoover' is often used to refer to any make of vacuum cleaner, Tyvek is often used to generally refer to breathable roofing membranes. Therefore I am not plugging any particular brands here: the question is: a roll of Tyvek is 220 euro: the Home-Value or Blizzard breathable is 137 euro for the same area.
Anyone any comments on the difference?
IMO the Tyvek is heavier and stronger and tears less easily.
    Thanks

It looks like you answered your own question there. Extra durability for a bit more money.

    Your choice.

Make sure that chosen suplier has a guaranteed glue/double sided sticky tape available to be used at the overlaps for airtightness.

Always read the Irish Cert, and choose on application / quality etc.
Don't forget bitumen felt at eaves. I don't know of a breatheable felt that is not susceptable to UV rays over time.

Counter battening is a standard detail with breather felts, which is not always done. Should be... IMO its important.

By the way I used a strong blue felt. It is practically indestrucable as its reinforced - Roofers love it as it so hard wearing... but its cost is reflected in its quality.
