He looks a little intimidating, like he's about to leap right at the camera... very nice capture.

l would crop the top right out, down to the stone.:)

Heres one l shot in Glendalough. Fast little buggers

    <no quoting pictures please - Fajitas>

that poor dude is missing a bit of his wing! There are a load of these huge dragonflies along the canals lately, want to get some high speed shots of them with a zoom.

I I think keeping the top in emphasizes the subject and uses the rule of thirds.it doesn't really distract from the subject and keeps the photo centrally balanced.....I think!

Not sure about this one, some people like that the stones semi-circle is not complete on left and some don't.

Not sure about crooked horizon either.

Love to know what you think.

Great thread - I've enjoyed browsing through all the various photos.

Here's one of mine from back in July that I took of a co-worker's husband at our staff BBQ.

Darren: Personal opinion here but I think a crop about an inch under his feet would work well. I think after that the bottom part of the image adds nothing to the image.

You will notice their reflection in the tiled floor which I like. Thats why I left it uncropped but I've tried what you said and feel you are to close to the subject when cropped like that.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

I get what you're saying, but I just think the floor is a little too blown out for my liking is all :)

Yay, I can do one on the ballooning theme.

One from 2001, taken on a Kodak P&S in Stockholm - we lived there for a few years.

I just love this shot, it's so simple but effective and the missing number just adds mystery to it.

I think also that your perfect composition and exposure really makes it.

    Have you titled this?

If not can I suggest 'Minus 4'

Whilst I personally love the shot, and I definitely don't agree about the crop, I think the framing is fine as it is, I do think that the whites are a bit too bright and should be turned down just a little bit!
