Can we start a petition to the mods? There's a proper thread for this somewhere, but I need sleep & can't look for it...

Anyone who:
- uses "proper leet N guna Pwn U"
- uses txtspk
- can't spell* and is too stupid or lazy to use a goddamn spalling chucker**
- won't punctuate
- or won't read before posting :mad:
gets an automatic 3-day ban.

I suggest a new icon to go beside the red & white triangle, maybe a nice little mushroom cloud.

Dear God yes.
There was always a minor presence of it, but it's become a complete joke lately. Firefox 3 has a built in spell checker that you just need to turn on, it'll auto highlight your mistakes and even suggest the correct spelling. Surely that's making it so easy there's no reason for even a 5 year old to not be able to conjugate a sentence using proper English and without the existence of alphanumerically shortened synonyms of words. There are three letters in the word "the", shortening it to "d" is neither clever nor useful. Similarly, the words "to/too" do not require shortening to the number "2". An extra keystroke won't kill you.
I used to spend more time decoding text speak posts that were only a few lines long than I take to read one of DOC's animated novella-rants. I have now given up and instantly ignore anyone typing like that. I'm (only partially) ashamed to say this but I attach a stigma upon those who insist on typing like that.
Oh, and "lol","haha","+1" and every smiley known to man, do not count as punctuation. Please desist and refrain from using them at the beginning and end of every sentence.

While I agree with most of what Dex said above ( see - no +1), I think the Emoticons serve a purpose. The written word can be so easily misunderstood, especially when the reader is drunk, sleepy or whatever.
Also surely LOL is in such common use, it should be acceptable.
Finally (adjusts zimmer frame) - could someone translate this into english: "proper leet N guna Pwn U"

Here's an idea:

Why don't we get these spellings added to the board's autocensor, you know, when it replaces swear words with asterisks.

So "F34r my 1337 ski11s y0u s0xsurs" will automatically become "**** my **** ****** *** *******"

If no-one can understand the post, they'll give up soon enough. Problem solved.

Emoticons are useful, in moderation.
