Using old slate roof tiles on a floor?

We have a house we are currently in the decorating/finishing off stage. The house came with an outhouse where the previous owner dumpted the slate roof tiles when he replaced the roof.

They are lovely and I am planning on using some mosiac style the windowsill in the porch.

I was also contemplating doing the floor of the porch too.

Would this work? I have plenty of slate to work with!

    Hi Littlebitdull,

How thick are the tiles im guessing less than 5/6mm a tile. If they are they are too thin to be layed on a floor. Then thinnest i have ever seen is about 10/12mm or 3/8" of an inch. They just dont have the durability as normal thick cut slate for floor. Would advise against it unless they are thick. Any pics of them ?
