I found Tom Kurz book good when I did Taekwondo, he has a video as well.

YRG with Diamond Dallas Page is a nice stretch yoga style

Stretching Scientifically is a good book also.

What are you stretching for/hoping to gain from it? If we knew the why we'd be in a better position to give advice. Is it general flexability, kicking high, rubber guard, touching the toes? The more specific the question the better quality the answers should be ;)

I really need to gain more flexibility- an all round book would be good- legs would be a priority

Pick a stretch, do it everytime your watching tv and theres an add break. Sit in the stretch during the break.

Id like more flexibility to kick higher and to also to improve my rubber guard

The Tom Kurz stuff is good, I used it a bit back in my TKD days. I'm not sure about the science behind it, but the flexibility required for high kicks is different than the flexibility required for rubber guard.

In our kenpo club, our two most flexible instructors (one 5th dan & one 2nd) use a lot of pilates stretches - I'm pretty sure the 5th dan instructor actually does pilates for health in general, personally I only know the stuff he shows us in class, but I'm sure there would be a good bit of info in a pilates book, the 5th dan instructor also is our best kicker, in terms of both power, flexibility etc..

    hope that helps :)

Check out the links above for Thomas Kurz' dynamic stretching routine for the kicks. Do these twice a day. For rubber guard, look into static hip and glute stretches.
