FFS, I really think the reason we are going into this recession is because smoke are too fucking expensive and just the fact that they keep raising the price is not making anyone quit so we are spending more and more money on them and the economy is collapsing.

I'd rather move to China than quit smoking and put up with this bullshit 2am closing time. Seriously, what is wrong with this government?

When did that stealth tax jump in?

It was tacked on to the bear tax - didn't you get the memo...?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    ****.

    Black market smokes ftw.

Cigarettes can be got from Eastern Europeaners or the Chinese lads for between €30 and €40 for 200.

    That's what I do.

    Fúck the government tbh.

    Gunch of cúnts.

Good time to quit guys :P :P
I could imagine if all the paranoia about the economy turns out to be right and we decend into the 1980s there will be a lot of people cutting down or resorting to rolling tobacco because of the cost of smokes.

New legislation came in recently to say that the minimum price of smokes was to be 7.14. This hit the cheap brands like winfield. At the same time, John Player decided to put 30c on a pack of superkings.

I am in the trade and word has it that there is another 40c increase in budget.

Can we please have a thread regarding smoking without it turning into 'Smoker vs Anti-smoker' thread?
(In b4 "No! hur hur hur")

    Anyway, regarding Des post
I used to get cigs from the Eastern Europeans back when I worked in a warehouse. Alas, my polski "contacts" run thin these days. I know their shops sell them under the counter, but as I understand it, they only sell to their brethren or if they know you (understandably)

Gonna try buying them online, or at least try and sus it out

Give it about two years and you'll be paying over 7 quid for a pint as well. Our Government is a joke.

I thought smokes were a way more expensive in the north.

See I think your government is waking up to the fact that people are actually quitting the smoke because of the price, and losing lots of revenue over it. So, in order to offset the loss you have all these periodic increases in the price of cigarettes.

Honestly people, get off your asses, and do something about it if you are pissed off.

Same here, pissed off at the prices so buy 200 from a guy I know form Eastern Europe for 30 Euro eveyr now and again, actually buy 600 at a go.

On the other side of it all, I'm trying to give the feckin' things up and using the patch but ffs at the price of the patches :( Can't even put them on the drugscheme card to get a discount or tax back, but you can in the UK. How crappy is that. Government thinking about our health me arse, if they were that worried they'd put the patch on the drug scheme discount service and even go so far as they have in the UK of lowering the price of the patch as well.

    Bah

The worry about this recession is the government must learn that it cannot depend on the old reliables, i.e. smokes & fags for revenue considered that they have turned so many away from them with their draconian policies. God knows what extremes they could turn to substitute this form of former reliable income.

    You should boycott cigarettes.

    That'll show 'em!

If you are moaning about 10c you best leave the country in October for the budget when the government adds their bit.

They are but the currency these days is changing all that.

As a 40+ a day smoker I will be poor before I am dead.

    Not good.

Solution to that is obvious, die sooner.

I delighted with this price increase. I do not like smokers, I don't smoke, and I don't like people that complain about small price increases, so this situation is quite pleasing in a number of ways

    I don't like non-smokers, I frequently beat them

A small increase between today and last week: look at the last 10 years.

The situation is the government uses that money "supposedly" for healthcare - and there has been a sharp reduction in the number of paying smokers. so now you have a sharp reduction in the amount of funds available for your healthcare system.

Its only pleasing until youre sitting in a hallway for 12 hours waiting to see a doctor, or on a waiting list for 18 months while cataracts slowly take your eyesight away from you.

Small price to pay, I revel in the annoyance of others

Smoking may or may not be retarded, but smoking when they cost 8 euro a pack is most certainly retarded.
