Was laid off got a few bob, can pay off all my bills and will be left with 6k ish !! No ties anymore and the thought of more CV dropping etc leaves me cold. Could blow 2k on a motorbike and still have 4k, minus 500 for insurance, so that leaves me 3.5 k. I have loads of camping stuff, tents, lights, stoves, cookers, laptop, I even have a sat phone, just needs a charge and a deposit, top up. Just feel like f*ckin off for a year or so. The bike is an Africa Twin, Daker Rally type Of trials bike. Google image of africa twin.. What you lot think ?

Yeah, I'll give you a job. You might not get paid for it though but that's a fairly minor matter.

I say go. Wrong time of the year for biking/camping though.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Go for it, you'll spend the six grand on crap for no gain if you don't.
You're not committing to much anyway, you can always turn around, come home and flog the bike.

I've been trying to convince the wife that it would make much more fiscal sense to use the cash from the sale of our house not to buy a larger house, but to live like kings / queens in a third world country. In my mind it goes like this.

    1. Sell House
    2. Move somewhere cheap
    3. ????
    4. Profit!

just how far do ya mean about legging it? A few miles, or a few thousand miles?

Would suggest getting a work visa for an out of euro country(not sure if you still can this late in the year). Granted youll have to do the whole cv thing again when you get there... but its soo worth it, recently having buggered off out of ireland myself, very much considering not going back.

Do it, everyone who doesn't do this sort of thing at least once ends up feeling like a silly ****er when they're too old to. You owe it to future you!

Edit: Unless you get eaten by lions, which mightn't go down so well with future you.

    Go, just go.

You don't need justifications. Ferry to France and then you can stay on the bike all the way as far as Jo'Burg in South Africa.

you could spend the money setting roots, spend the time looking for a job.

or you could use the money and just disappear and fall off the planet for the year. travel. work in a bar every so often to make some money if need be.

life is short when you keep to a definate path. veer off the path every so often. be free for a year.

    i say go for it

No license :( Balls.. I'm 22, I should have some skills by now. I'm actually really wondering about taking out a big loan and bouncing around Europe for a few months. What kind of loan could a pre-degree 22 year old artist taking a year out score?
