ASP.net C# Accessing DataKey.Value from a non-gridview event handler

Hi, Is this possible? I have the Row Index for the selected item in the grid. However, my event is not a Gridview event and I need to access the Primary Key of the selected item. I wouldn't have thought it difficult but I've spent a full day on this and gotten nowhere. Thanks John
