MacGregor DX Woods. Anybody used them?

Hi. These are the cheapest (premium brand) woods in McGuirks @ €100 a pop. Found them on the net far cheaper though- €40 a pop. Seems like a real bargain.

I was just wondering has anybody used these woods or other items from the DX range and what their rating/opinion on the equipment would be? Tks.

Looking at the Wilson Fybrids as an alternative as they seem like excellent value also.

    (I'm a high handicapper)

I'm a leftie and have been using this Macgregor DX 5 wood. When I got this club I went up to the driving range and in no time worked out how to use it. On the course it works very well for me, which is something of a miracle as my fairway woods were always pretty poor and inconsistent. I find that I am able to hit it very accurately and very long. Looked for a 3 in the same model, but no such luck.

My advice: get the five wood. Try it out on the range first, then on the course. If it works for you, then also go for the 3 wood. If you ever come across a 3 wood DX for lefties....let me know, 'cause I'm still searching.

Thanks for the advice, a little too late however as I decided to splash out a little more and went for the Wilson Fybrid 3 & 5 woods- (wow!! never thought I would hit balls the way I am with them, especially a 15 degree 3W as my last was 18 degree. Range only so-far though, hopefully I will be able to reproduce it on the course).

Did you try asking McGuirks if they would source a LH Mac G DX 3W? By the amount they have in stock it looks like it is a popular club and that it would be worthwhile for MacG to make them.

Yeah. But they can't get it. Searched all over Dublin and online, but no luck. It makes me pretty disappointed when I see the right hand version 3 woods just sitting there in McGuirks. Ended up getting online the Mactec 3 wood...it hits it very long...but am not consistent with it. I'm left wondering if only...I had the DX 3..would I have done better? Anyway, glad to see that the Wilson works on the range...off the mat, or ground I presume. Maybe next time in Mcguirs I'll check it out. Bet they'll only stock right hand ones!!

We lefties feel discriminated against. Shouldn't shops be obliged under Equality Legislation to stock the same items in both right and left. They really shoud be obliged to at least offer to order the left version...assuming it is made in this.
