For shame, I only belatedly got Sly and the Family Stone's first album (A Whole New Thing).

I've been listening to the opening track "Underdog" for about a fortnight now. I just can't get enough of it. Savage stuff.

On a Herbie Hancock tip at the minute. I know it's technically jazz but this stuff definitely crosses over:

    Headhunters (album)

    Fat Mama

    I thought it was you

    Funkadelic by Funkadelic. Brilliant.

    Good choice.

Also rate Maggot Brain and Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow.

Latter is a bit patchy but the title track is probably worth the price of the album alone.
