    My favourite year so far.

    Highlights:
    • Silent Disco - Why is this my first year going into this? Amazing stuff
    • Sigur Rós - Expecting loads, and they delivered
    • The weather - Thank you God!
    • The crowd - The friendliest happy bunch I can remember
    • The funny t-shirts - Why didn't I order something from nerdytshirts.com in time for the weekend?

    Lowlights:
    • Those people who snuck in with no wristband - Why should I have to pay full price when you can come in use up the facilities?
    • The lineup - weakest I can remember but didn't take from an otherwise fantastic weekend.

I did sneak in but my mate invited me down as he was playing at it with two different bands. Got his first band no hassle for Lost Vagueness but they wouldn't give him one for the Body and Soul arena without any ID and my mate doesn't even have a bank account let alone a drivers license.

I was all set to come home until some friends in there found a way to slip their bands off by pulling on the silver thing. A few more came down on the Saturday, but it turned out to be pain. There was a few security guards doing random band search's around the campsite. One mate got caught but he talked his way into getting a new band for 30 quid.

Left on the Sunday night in a state and feeling it in work now.

Highlights was the atmosphere at the Christy Moore gig, George Clinton and some of the small tents/bandstands around Lost vagueness. Good people and good times though.

    That is fscking outrageous.
If the security guards at EP are *that bent*, it doesn't exactly inspire much trust in them if anything were to kick off or if someone was attacked.

Great crowd full of great people,
Weather held up well (till late sunday:rolleyes:)

    [/LIST]

This was down to security not squeezing the metal clamp on yhe wristbands properly allowing people to take them on and off any that were squeezed properly couldnt be taken off and are far better than the plastic wristbands

    Underworld?

    Any reviews?

Got text from a friend who thought they were excellent, but he wouldn't have been a huge fan beforehand.

That's a standard problem with them. Then again, when you have stuff as good as 2 Months oFF and Jumbo and Cowgirl, why change a winning formula!

The Roots, My Bloody Valentine, and Sex Pistols were my favourite acts of the weekend. Faust were bloody great too. All of them on the Sunday.

Found the other days were pretty weak music-wise in comparison... or more likely I didn't go to the right stages! I was disappointed with Sigur Ros. They were good to listen to while lying on the ground looking at the sky but otherwise I found them pretty boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,320 ✭✭✭Teferi

I got in for free because my OH's dad runs a food kiosk at these events and he got us some of the 3 day Trader pass's.

The line-up was just awful. I only liked two acts - Franz Ferd and Sigur Ros. I vaguely knew a few of the other acts but overall it was a pants line-up.

I liked all the different places though - body and soul, spoken word etc. They were fun to wander around + a lot of the small acoustic stuff around there was awesome.

The crowd was awesome. Cheerful and friendly.

Does anyone know if Fovea Hex played in the end? And if so, how were they?

Is this not the best way to listen to them? (for me..)

Just had the most amazing shower.

Too many highlights to name, it'll be nice having them seep back into my memory during the next few days. But a few of note...

    - Elbow finishing on 'One Day Like This' was a religious experience.
    - Crowd's reaction when Jape pulled Put'em Under Pressure out.
    - Body & Soul for a bit of breakfast.
    - Having a cider in the sun in the green crafts area while backsmithing & flint knapping went on in the background
    - Friday evening after jape. 'what'll we do?' 'dunno.' 'dave o'doherty's on in a min, fancy it?' 'ehh, why not.' And he was awesome.
    - chairoplanes. they kinda sucked afterwards now i think about. The girl in front of me falling over when she got off was brilliant tho.
    - having a quick kip in the cinema tent.
    - having the yard dogs on the main stage to me & my girlfriends selves, for a while anyway.

On the cons side, it would have been nice if people could use bins instead of leaving half eaten food at their arses. I wouldnt have liked to have been a girl looking at the toilet queues. & so many lads just pissing anywhere.

The main stage & big tent could have done with screens. I could just about make out nick cave.

Overall a fantastic few days. Arriba

Stupid maths exam c0ck-blocked me from the festival, which is rather annoying. So while all of you got to enjoy the drug-infested den of joyous rapture I learned how to represent graphs as data structures.

    Screw you all :(

George Clinton/P-Funk is/are the biggest living legend/s on earth.
MBV was the loudest thing I've ever experienced.
Dan Deacon's set was f*cking amazing.
Crystal Castles, Conor Oberst, Faust-(got a piece of chainsawed drywall from them), Grinderman and Giveamanakick kicked ass too.
    Chairoplanes were unreal!
You can always depend on the kindness of strangers for drugs.

MBV were let down by poor sound.

The toilets were a massive con for me. I was the only girl in a group of 8 and it was a bloody disaster trying to go to the toilet. How hard is it to put in enough toilets?? The queues were crazy. And of course all the lads had to wait for me most of the time. Ffs, ****** left them for dead in relation to the toilets this year.

I had a fantastic weekend. Far too tired to write much now though!

Had a great laugh with my friends and anybody we got chatting to. the food was actually alright. Sawa few good bands and comedians. Camped in the Andy Warhol site and it was grand, was a bit of a laugh without anybody annoying around!!! lol

The cons would have been the toilets, and the line up wasnt great.

But overall i had a great weekend :)

Tip for next year, if ya want to drop the kids off at the pool, go to the main arena early. The crappers were in a pristine condition in the morning/early afternoon, it put an old pep in my step for the day, after it!!

I'd a great few days, i never eat so much in all my life at a music festival. On both Friday and Saturday nights, i ended up back in a rave/reggae disco in the forest, drinking tequila and vodka shots. Absolutely brilliant craic. I've never talked and had the craic with so many random strangers in all my life. I couldnt hack it Sunday so i fecked off early.

I've nothing negative to say about the festival, i wasnt expecting much from the line up, the only band i really wanted to see were the Breeders, and they were awesome. They looked like they were having a good time, and their set was very tight.

Elbow were breathtaking, they remind me of Doves, but with added soul, outstanding........ I was talking to a girl camped out at the front of the stage, beside the barrier before they came on, apparently she came over from New Zealand to see them especially. I was delighted when the band mentioned her during the set!!! I could understand her devotion to them after seeing them live though, bloody massive so they were.

Brilliant weekend, am still getting flashbacks of some of the madness i experienced/took part in!!! Happy memories............

toilet facilities were a disgrace. A lot of the food was awful but at least i got refunded for it. Line up had lots of good bands.

good stuff. last year was probably better line-up wise and i thought the toilets were better last year too.

rain on sunday night while trying to watch that effigy burn was sh1t.
4 teenage scumbags from ballymun with a lighter and a can of petrol would have done a better job at burning down that thing imo

I'd say this was my least favourite EP so far, but still pretty damn enjoyable nonetheless.
Guess that I was just comparing it with Glastonbury a bit too much, which was in a totally different league!

    Highlights;
    Underworld rocking the shop
Deadmau5 rocking the shop some more... Love that mouse head!:p
Drunken backsaddle carousel action... Surprised that I didn't fall off!
The damn tasty steak sandwiches by the Crawdaddy area, and random food in general

    Low points;
Not getting there until after 9 on Friday
    Rob Hood clashing with Underworld
Underworld playing in the electric arena instead of the main stage... Surely they should've swapped places with George Clinton?
    Rednecks.

    Highlights :
    Modeselektor
    The Kills
    Digitalism
    Goldfrapp
The full Irish breakfast area beside the paintball place that had actual proper toilets.

    Not so good :
    New Young Pony Club
    CSS.
The sound was really bad for the wo of those bands.
    The toilets.
The wasps in Charlie Chaplin campsite, not sure if other campsites has this problem, but they were EVERYWHERE.

Had a great weekend, lads that we camped with were great, atmosphere in general was a highlight.

EDIT : Thought the food was really expensive for the quality of it. Lived on noodles with sauce for the whole weekend.
