Pighead speaks the truth. Real men don't give a f*ck about what other men think of them either.

They don't cease to moisturise/gel their hair/eat paninis (:confused:wtf???) because the guy next door/at work will think they've suddenly developed homosexual tendancies.

    Few additions:

    Going go the gym

+1 there. That's got to be the most insecure thing a man can do. It's like women spending three hours putting on make up and choosing something to wear.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

what started out as a bit of a tongue in cheek dig at the metrosexual trend we've been experiencing lately has turned very suspect, those jumping so passionately on the defensive sound more ghey than any baileys drinking, pannini eating man looks...stop being such sissies and learn how to take a joke :)

In fairness, "you're eating a panninni. Hahah GHEY" isn't exactly top rate comedy material!

I wouldn't call myself metrosexual, but if someone said I was I wouldn't be overly offended or anything.

I don't I look like a complete pig and am nowhere near attractive given our societies norms. ( Think Mary Harney like unnattractive)

So I reckon most blokes are just nice blokes :) IMO anyway lol

Ah there's no need to be so hard on yourself, I bet there's plenty of men who would give you a lash.

Oh come one, there's nothing wrong with men going to the gym! I also don't think a woman taking a while to get ready is necessarily a sign of insecurity. But anyone going to the gym could mean they're concerned for their health, not automatically just their appearance! Plus the results are so nice, this should certainly not be discouraged.

I'm beginning to form the opinion that men are catching the insecurity disease off women.

Following on from the Bailey's thread where, apparently, if we drink Bailey's, other men are thinking we're gay. Who the fvck are these guys?! Are they the same men who are scared to hug another man in public...? Are these the same men who started threads about the 'correct' way to tie your shoelaces?

Whatever happened to real men? Who couild express themseves openly without having to worry what someone else is thinking? Christ, it'll be hushed celeb gossip at the water cooler next...

I take it you are in the advanced stages of insecuryitis, what with starting such a defensive thread.

In relation to the questions you raise; I know a lot of people who think that men are not men any more. Gone are the days when men would hold a higher rank in society judging by the size of their beer gut. Men wear pink, drink alco pops and in extreme cases wear make up these days.

    For shame.

I always thought that a real man was someone who had the XY chromosome but i guess genetics dont define men anymore but rather whether they eat paninis. somewhere theres a geneticist crying into his pillow.:(

Well there are individuals who are men, but have no Y chromosome and women, who have the Y chromosome. But if I were a geneticist I would cry into my pillow too.

    "Spelling;s"?

    Mmmm hmmmm.:)

Ah, that would be more a grammatical. I don't actually think that "spellings" is spellt with a semicolon.

Why what? Men don't act like men anymore. Long gone is the hunter gatherer.

Blokes nowadays are far too interested in their mirrors/grooming. Look at football for example. Male role models these days are the likes of Ronaldo and Drogba etc etc, who roll around like bitches when a defender 'looks' at them.

We need more Vinnie Jones' and Roy Keanes quick, otherwise man is fúcked.

    Again: why?

And in case it needs explaining: Why is men not acting up to a certain preconceived stereotype a bad thing?

I wouldn't call the way men generally used to be a stereotype, it was just the way they were. Nowadays they have become more feminine, what with the birth of metrosexuality and all that. Forgive me if I have an opposing opinion to yours.

A question for you though, why are you so defensive about this subject? Are you on some sort of crusade?

You opened a thread on the subject, obviously expecting other people's opinions. You gave yours, I gave mine. Why get so defensive about someone elses point of view. My opinion is no more valid than yours, so you should just let it go.

Bring back the Clint Eastwood type of man! Less of those tattooed sailors they use in aftershave ads..

is the  a very ghey thing for me to use?

No need to apologise, I accept your opinion - and everyone else's - I'm just curious to know why you know why you think men acting in a supposedly feminine way is a bad thing,

Personally, I believe men should be free to wear dresses, drink pink drinks with umbrellas in them and call themselves Talulah if they want - I just find it annoying that people frwon upon this without explanaiton.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Yes with but a lot of your tribal types it's the men who are the peacocks and very into how they look and will spend hours getting that look right. There's a bunch of tribes in new Guinea, who won't have intertribal battles in the rain as it'll ruin their headgear and smudge their make up. :D These would be proper hard bastards tm too.

The grooming thing wouldn't throw me tbh. It's men remaining boys for life or acting like pseudo girls* that would be more a concern. Abdicating responsibility emotionally would be one. Not taking responsibility for their actions would be another. Being over emotional in situations where it's not warranted(yes I do think that's a bad thing. Life sucks sometimes, so sometimes you just have to suck it up). Not taking a stand when they should. Not supporting those they claim to love. Being clear in what they want and sticking to that, but also having the cop on to realise when it's going south and accepting that too etc.

I've mentioned it before, but I know a gay chap, indeed he's very camp etc, but he would be one of the few "real" men I know and is to be emulated, because he has those qualities that should define "manhood".

    *not women, girls. Big diff.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Its about striking a balance I think?

I am a man, quite a manly man.

I love sport and going out with the lads and chatting up women.

I also, love Musical Theatre and Fashion.

I take a lot of pride in how I look and once spend a weeks wages on a pair on sunglasses.

No, before someone may try and answer the question for me, this does not make me gay or effette or any other number of things.

...But why would you put any work into your appearance aside from trying to appear more attractive to women? It doesn't make any sense otherwise.

    NONE AT ALL!

You're not a real man unless you've dug and lived in a trench.

    Insecure?
Developing your strength, stamina, size and muscularity? The very attributes that a proper man is supposed to posses.
And women "putting on make up and choosing something to wear" is the mark of insecurity is it?
I'm beginning to think you're decidedly abnormal.
