I have a HP Pavillion laptop running on Vista. Unfortunatly I managed to get myself a nice virus/malware, I have tried to get rid of it but with no luck. I have decided to just format my c drive and revert to factory settings, can anybody tell me how to do this please.

It varies with different manafacturers . You need to google your make model of pc with factory settings

your machine should have come with a recovery cd. most computers from major vendors like hp, dell, ibm etc will always come with a recovery cd. you just boot the cd follow along with the wizard and it will wipe your machine and reinstall your operating system back to factory setting just like when you first got it. if you dont have the cd or lost it etc i believe you can call hp and order a replacement.

If u dont have recovery cd the recovery info will be on a hidden partition on hard drive. to recover from hard you will need to press a series of keystrokes on boot up; It varies with different manafacturers . You need to google your make model of pc with factory settings
