Oven Parts (not so much of a bargain as a tip)

    Hi,

A fan element blew in my oven recently and I phoned a local (Dublin) company to get a quote for repairs. At first I was told an engineer would have to come to the house and establish which part was blown (I already knew), then they'd order the part, and then they'd come back and install it. They said they didn't have parts in stock so it'd have to go on order, at least 5 working days.

The quote for labour was about €80 I think
The quote for an element was €138

Thought that was a bit steep, so I looked up the part on google. Found http://www.elementreplacement.co.uk/ in Liverpool, phoned them up, lovely people to deal with and ... wait for it ... the price was €32

So you can save yourself a bit buying the parts in from England - €138 vs €32 - go figure.

    Hugh

There's a thread in Consumer Issues dealing with plumbers in a similar situation. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=57082616#post57082616

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/AppliancesSparesUK

Total cost was about £10 sterling/€13 - fast delivery too.

Washing Machine Module, Whirlpool parts price was €170. I priced it on the internet at €35: http://www.lemona.lt/index.php?page=item&i_id=9703e446e77249e09d4c13d2725c197f

only buy elements if your sure they are legit -most 'cheap' or 'bargain' elements are prone to exploding and some are recons chemically cleaned to look like new but chemicals cause weakening of the metals -safety first

Same for boilers. There is a place on the belgarde road that does stuff at 25% of the price repairers quote.

I got my creda oven element from www.appliancespartsdirect.com They're based in Ireland. They even have a "repair tips" section on their website to help you identify the part you need to fix your cooker, washing machine etc. I ordered my part at lunchtime It was on my desk the following morning.

Are u giving discounts to boards members?

A whole day to get to your desk? That's shocking inefficiency.

I mean, given that you work there and all.

Hey Paulblack, I checked out your friends. They have a fantastic currency exchange calculator that magically created a stunning exchange rate of, and wait for this, £0.70 to every holy €1.

I mean does your company deliver to MY desk, or should I expect them to fit the part after giving the fridge a cleaning with my old tooth brush.

Tell appliances parts direct of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland to wake up.

Got the part delivered for a better price, and its genuine, off the UK Whirlpool site.

Self-promoting and useless. I ordered something last week and after a full week it's still pending. Even said it was in stock! And I thought it'd "be on my desk the following morning". Muppets:mad:
