I'm gonna name my children in the order they are born

    Number 1
    Number 2
    etc...

Is that allowed? Also can you put silent numbers in peoples names? For example it would be pronounced Mike but spelled M274i87934k08934098e3333 (the numbers being silent you see!)

If you have a personal dislike for a name, keep it to yourself.

Hmm. Two of my friends who had children last year named the kids Daniel and Sophie.
Unoriginal jackasses who I hope are not reading this.

Well it's a well-known fact that young 'uns today pop out a little cabbage-head sprog. And also that Rihanna has had a song with that word repeating in the chorus. Coincidence? Over to you.

We all have names that we don't like, there was even a thread on it not so long ago. Don't see why it should bother you that I don't like that particular name.

(And for the record, I think Lena is actually quite a nice name.)

My name appears in that thread.
I don'thave a problem with people not liking names, it is the thinking other people appreciate hearing about that bothers me.

(Blaze is a legend name for a ginger kid and male gigilo)

I knew a Lena once. She used to eat a lot of mayonnaise. Bear that in mind.

Ah well, if the kid's ginger it doesn't matter what you call him. He's doomed anyway :pac:

Um......ok then  (Is this an obvious joke that I'm just not getting?)
    I HATE mayonnaise......eugh!!

Nope I was just trying to help out Moonbaby with her name choices. It just happens that every single Lena I've ever known has been a mayonnaise addict. I'm glad I mentioned it because it turns out Moonbaby detests mayonnaise. At least she found out now before she went and named her kid Lena.

Names are over-rated. People should be assigned a number at birth. It should be the date followed by the order you were born on that day. e.g. 20080829-001 for the first child born today 20080829-002 for the second etc. This number can then double up as their phone number later in life and their email address.

For the time being an optional f or m may be added to the end of the number to indicate the sex of the individual. Obviously once my plan for a unisex world is implemented in full this will no longer be needed.

This system also has the added advantage of no two people ever having the same name, unless they're from different countries* as different countries will use their access code with children:

353-20080829-538f: Now if that isn't a sexy name you're all ghey!

*This post was not made up as I went along

Oh OK. Well I most certainly won't be naming my child Lena then - clearly evidence has shown that she will grow up to eat vile egg-based condiments

I'll have to give her a non-mayonnasiey name, like.......I dunno........Brandy. Then she'll just be an alcoholic.

(I hope to avoid this dilemma by never ever having kids)

I think this makes perfect sense. Along with tattooing barcodes on us (lest we forget) and making us go to camps (former schools) where we all have to concentrate really hard (learn).

Eh? That barcode tattoo wasn't a dig at anyone in particular.....should I be scared? What can I expect? Will there be pant-wetting?

RTDH is one of our many in-house conspiracy theorists. Anything in the line of tagging/barcoding us plebs usually gets him going like a red rag to a bull. But we love him really.

Some mild pant wetting is to be expected.

Jayden and Freya?!! This is IRELAND ffs....

Thank you. Your valuable contribution has been noted.

OK I probably shouldn't have phrased it like I did, it's just that certain "American" names just sound....weird over here, where they wouldn't sound so strange in America.

Like when you hear Jayden, you automatically think "Ugh. Britney's kid" It's not that it's a bad name, it just has bad connotations.

Probably pointless cos we got the answers but see can you name them all before the clock runs out.

I hate the way perfectly good names can become tainted by the first person you knew with that particular name. For example, Aaron, Paddy (but not Patrick) and James are all fat to me. Simon is a nerd, Paul can't walk, Stephen is also a nerd, Mark is a knackbag and Luke is creepy and sickly. Just as well most of those names don't appear on the list then i suppose!

Also, Jayden goes to the shops in her PJ's (not that I know any (yet))

Anybody that names their child Oonagh should be shot
