Wow, I hope that's not the case.

I didn't know he was a born again christian, he's obviously predisposed to bad judgement then.

I didn't know he was a born again christian, he's obviously predisposed to bad judgement then.

He's talked about it in interviews in the past, he said that he used to live a sort of bad life but then one night himself and his son both woke up at the same time and went running out of their apartment and he said that he felt something and immediately knew that everything was right

I think he had recorded some rap songs before that but he didn't want them released afterwards because he cursed on them

    Bruce Buffer talking about it:

    Rampage Jackson. What happened?

Don't know. I don't know. I'm very bothered by it. I've known Rampage for years. I've announced pretty much all his fights except ror the Pride fights. Whatever happened, I just don't know if you can explain your way out of it. It's just...what's to say? He ran from the police with his picture on the side of a truck.

Yeah, that was not too smart.

I can't possibly fathom an excuse for what happened. I consider Rampage a good friend and have tremendous respect for the fighter that he is, but if he broke the law, he's gotta pay the price as anyone else would in that situation according to what the law dictates. I just hope the best for him in this situation.

Man, there's no excuse for what he did. I don't know what was going on through his head. Bruce, you're a partier. You must have hung out with Rampage at the after parties. Is he a wildman or is he mellow? Did he show any signs that he could do something like
    this?

I've always seen Rampage handle himself really well in person. I've seen him with more than one girl, walking around like a pimp, enjoying life. But personally I've never seen Rampage out of control. I've never seen anything out of the ordinary with him.

    It's just totally bizarre.

All I can say is when the facts are reported I will believe the facts. Until then everybody can conjecture as much as they want. I just know that Rampage is in a lot of trouble.

I'm a big fan of his and it's really sad. I'm just glad nobody got hurt.

    Me too.

    From Josh Barnetts blog:

-Rampage, you know I am here and I always have your back. Not for anything other than the bond of brothers. You know I got your back. Do what needs to be done and come back to us whole and of right spirit.

"Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope"

-Couple fighters have decided to pipe up recently. Problem is both like to speak but both without truth.

This ones interesteing because he also talks about Anthony Johnson and Alex E. in it. Good read.

Jesse Taylor endearing himself to fans

I understand what he was trying to get at but my God is he gonna regret that. I didnt like JT on the show and I like him even less for this. DELIGHTED Dollaway chokes him out now after reading this.

    Dana reveals more

Just hopin rampage can get it together. Typically people jumped to conclusions and got into cheap name calling before they knew what actually happened to him. This is very sad.

Why Dana White gave him another chance is beyond me. Taylor is a grade a moron.

"White originally said Friday that Jackson was to be held for 72 hours, but that the time period would be extended.

Jackson instead was reportedly spotted at the Affliction card in Anaheim on Saturday night, just after the 72 hours would have expired. White essentially confirmed Jackson's attendance at the rival card, saying he had asked White's permission to attend.

Jackson still has not spoken publicly about his eventful week."

So where's the quote from Dana "essentially" saying that Rampage asked to attend? It looks like that report came from the initial reports that Rampage was at Affliction. But those reports have been confirmed as being wrong since then as it was just a guy who looked like him

EDIT: Also, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and Yahoo went over to the guy who was supposed to be Rampage and he said it definitely wasn't him. If Rampage was there too, along with his lookalike, I'm sure someone would have spotted the two of them and not just one

Apparently the fake Rampage was Shawne Merriman, an American footballer. He had sunglasses and a chain on too

    merriman01181.jpg

There's plenty of reports that he was at Affliction, and it seems understandable that someone who doesn't know him might think that he's Rampage, especially with all the other people wanting photos with him

    Mystery solved!

Put shades and a chain on that dude and hee looks VERY like Rampage.

    Iuanita has been fired

Also found an interesting article, badly written but has some interesting nuggets.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/josh_gross/07/29/quinton.jackson/index.html

Apparently Rampage fought Silva for the second time after he had fasted for three days, cos he was trying to keep the devil away............

I bought ufc 75 (jackson vs henderson) on dvd recently. The bonus features follow jackson around london the few days leading up to the fight. I found the whole spiritual/ religious stuff between him and his training partners and coach quite strange. They were always praying together holding hands while his coach spouted some non-sense about god and how good rampage is.

Rampage also talks a lot about a prophecy being pre-written before his fight with henderson. I thought this was just him talking crap but reading the above article he obviously believes these things to an unhealthy degree.

I really like jackson but he seems to be a very fickle minded person. I think his coach took advantage of this i.e playing on their common interest in religon to gain his trust and probably a fair bit of cash. Im glad he's sacked now.

I hope he gets well soon and gets his life back on track. I also hope he finds a coach who will lead him in the right direction in his career.

Just on another thought has anyone ever thought rampage might have sustained some injury from blows to the head that could lead to the irregular behaviour we've seen? I obviously dont have a clue about this medically just wondering had the thought crossed anyone's mind.

As far as i am aware ( and this is only from a bit of casual reading on the subject ) the type of trauma that might be picked up from a sport fighting scenario is very different from the type of trauma that can cause interruptions to "normal cognitive ability".

But as i said, that is only from my own casual reading.

There's been a lot of studies recently into the effects of multiple concussions on a person's brain. A concussion is actually a lot less than what you might think it is, you don't have to be knocked out or even knocked dizzy to have a concussion. I'd assume that Rampage would have suffered a good few concussions over his fighting career, and probably even before he went professional, in street fights and the like

There's been a lot of American footballers who've become depressed and it's been linked to the effects of multiple concussions. The death of one might sound a bit familiar in a way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Strzelczyk

I'm not saying that that's what's happened Rampage, but it would fit in with what's become a big area of research recently

The woman that rampage hit had a miscarriage. He killed an unborn child. Should pay the consequences.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

There was a discussion of what charges Rampage may face on Wrestling Observer Live last night and now they've got an update on it:
A note regarding California law on what was discussed last night, vehicular manslaughter in California does not apply to unborn fetuses

So he won't be facing as severe a charge as he would have in another state. The mother will probably file a civil lawsuit against him for it, but he won't face criminal charges for manslaughter

    From f4wonline.com:
Quinton Jackson was at the UFC press conference at the Mall of America today. Dana White said Jackson, after losing to Forrest Griffin, spent the week in the sun in Las Vegas, fasting and doing nothing but drinking energy drinks. He said doctors diagnosed him with delirium from starvation and nothing is wrong with him mentally.

Hmm... There must have been something wrong with him mentally if he decided to fast

Jackson has been charged with two felonies. The miscarriage is deemed to have been unrelated to the incident.
