course it is.....you'll have a much better night than being stuck with someone you only asked because you felt you had to.....be your own man / woman. it's a brilliant opportunity to express yourself (on the dancefloor :D ) without your partner moaning that you are making a fool of them. There'll be many singles there after an hour because their partners wont be able to stand after an hour. You'll make someone's night by stepping in during their hour(s) of need ;)

I know a good 10/12 people in my year going on there own, dont worry about. Once the dinners over people start spliting up.

Bringing someone with you to the grads is really only for the pictures..... Its not like you are tied to your partner for the night and cant leave him/her to go talk to your friends.....

Fair few of my mates going solo to ours, to be honest I wouldn't worry about it. I asked my mate ages ago and she said yep, but if she wasn't available I'd much rather go alone than with somebody else merely for the sake of it. The world keeps spinning after the Debs....

A guy in my year did. Tbh I think I should have aswell, didn't really work out if you get me.

What part of Tralee are you from OP? Could be going to my cousins one.

NO! it's a memorable thing!PLUS your family will be there before you go... bring anyone! don't go on ur own! x

I wouldn't give a damn if I were you. People go overboard on the debs, I decided to keep my money for a holiday and college. I have a friend who isn't that pushed but still spent 900 euros on tickets, dress and limo...by the way most people see this as cheap!

If you want to go then go, and go alone, you won't have to worry about your date not knowing anyone there. Its not like your mates will avoid you, lol.

I think the debs is a waste of teh moniez myself, I think that feeling was common enough in my year too. We're a close, small year that go out all the time anyway, and we already had a 'grad night' just before the LC.

How much is it to rent a tuxedo? I bought a suit instead, as A) I like suits anyway, and B) I'll own it, and there'll be no worries. I also think the line between looking good and looking like a gobsh!te is very thin when it comes to a tux.

Go on your own, it makes no odds really.

Theres no problem with going on your own. That's my plan anyway. I'd personally be of the opinion it's overhyped.

I went twice and I can't remember a thing from them - and there was no drink involved in ours. Go alone id say - better off without all that crap of meeting family/photos etc. All forgotten later

I thought the debs was a class night!!! Did anyone else here think it was good??

    Tux (bought) €130
rented waistcoat, cravate and shoes €40
    Tickets €150
    Limo €105
    Chocs nd flowers €50
    Drink €120

Clearly a complete rip off but still a class night

My debs is in November some time, still no one to go with though!!
I'll have to put my persuasion hat on! :P

No-one was looking forward to the debs more than me, last time to be with my girls, last time to say thank you to the teachers for thier help. An hour into the dinner, my date gets pissed and goes off with my "best friend". Her date left, cos he was a few years older anyway. Ended up going home at 1.30am. Alone. Waste of ****ing time. Choose a date very very wisely. If yer not 100%, take a girl from outside the school or go yourself...seriously.:o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 136 ✭✭Raemie

If you dont have someone you actually want to go with, definitely go on your own. If you bring someone from outside the school you have to stay with them all night when you should be having a last hoopla with your school friends. After the photos no one even cares.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭insinkerator

Just forked out 150 for two tickets. Im broke already and i have yet to get my tux:(

Im really looking forward to the debs at this stage..... im goin on holidays on sunday for two weeks and back two days before the debs. Gonna be unreal

As for the TS question. If you cant find anyone who you want to go with, then dont take anyone... you will save money, and besides, everyone forgets after the pictures anyway.....
