    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if there are any light rail engineers out there who could guestimate how long it will take to switch over the current alignment to the new one they are building?

Or to put it another way, how long will the Red Line have to close for so they can jackhammer out the current rails, weld the new ones in and let all the concrete set? A long weekend? 5 days until the concrete hardens enough?

They're pretty advanced on the new section, the photo below was taken on monday 11th Aug:-

    Thanks

The work is being carried out on the w/end of 23/24 Aug. The line will not close but services will only operate between Blackhorse to Abbey. It will be completed on the night of Sun 24th all going well.

What will they do for a depot during this time? Just keep the trams running night and day? Or maybe they'll park them up on Abbey Street, like the good old days of the bus terminus.

I assume there will be security around them, or they will definitely end up getting vandalised.
