I have one for my 30D and I'd honestly steer you toward buying a genuine Canon grip. This grip tends to become unstuck from the camera, the shutter release is temperamental, and after six months of owning it I had to tape down the door to the battery compartment as it kept coming loose and making my camera switch off.

haha! jesus that sounds awful! any chance you know the exact model? could you find it on ebay again?

the feedback he has from buyers of the battery grip doesn't mention anything negative about quality, except for one guy who left a negative saying "hey this is a knock-off of the real canon grip!!".... duh:pac:

still half tempted, I'm a sucker for cheap chinese camera gack.

I've only ever used on non Canon grip on a friend's 30D and it seemed to get pittance battery life in comparasin to what all of mine have gotten. My 40D grip could last me weeks. The Canon grip is absolutely worth the money.

There isn't a whole pile to a grip, so you might get lucky.
If you need one & your budget won't stretch to the real McCoy, then it's probably worth a punt.

I got something similar from ebay for my 40D.
Well, it works, although I have problems with battery life when using it.
