Will digital terrestrial have full teletext?

    will new digital will have full tetext like news and sport on bbc rte or tv3 sky news and normal subtittle for deaf hard of hearing if anyone can tell me i have to give full information for deaf people in ireland

    Subtitles yes. Who knows about the digital text.

    ok thank will top set box will have auto subtittle like automatic like some deaf people don't want press 888 like on all time subtittle like same as sky box

    We could do with something similar on the forums here to help with the poorly punctuated.

    I think that judging by the trial, that stb's will have auto subtitle functionality. That is down to the set top box software. If that is the standard on satellite boxes then these could be expected on the DTT boxes. If deaf people get the satellite-DTT combo boxes, then they'll benefit from all the BBC, ITV, C4 deaf friendly programming aswell as the Irish programming.

    After that, its up to the Irish broadcasters to commission or provide the subtitling for all programming they broadcast. Auto subtitle and a subtitle button is down to manufacturer and not the broadcaster. Boxer and RTÉ are the ones who'll source the boxes so they're the ones to definitively.     Good or bad punctuation, he only asked for some insight into RTE DTT on the correct forum.

    RTE is testing out a proper digital text version of Aertel. It was shown off to the general public at the Toys 4 Big Boys event at the RDS a few months ago.

    It seemed to be quite an early version, but it looked like it could be quite a good service when it does go live. They had representatives from the team who were working on it there too, so I assume it's actually a serious project.
