Getting out of Dublin - M50

Hi,

I drive from Dublin to Cork (and back again) every weekend - I was told today that if I took the Ballymount exit on the M50 instead of the one signposted N7 (the one that goes round the Red Cow) and turn off for Belgard Road that I can avoid the magic roundabout type thing that's in place at the moment to get to the Bewley's side - can someone give me exact details as to how I'd do this - if I take the Ballymount exit, how exactly do I end up at Newlands Cross?

if driving south on m50, go back over m50,straight up the road ~1.5miles until you come to the crossroads with belgard road, it's where you have to cross luas track. turn right and straight down to newlands cross.

if driving north, just turn off and go straight up to right turn.

I AM completely thick, so bear with me...........I take the left exit so for Ballymount (I'm coming from Dun Laoghaire btw - should probably have mentioned that)........what lane should I be in? what signs am I looking for etc?

if coming from south, you just come off and stay left, it's straight on from there it's a single lane road. You can't really go wrong, there is one junction to go through before you hit the crossroads and go right.

As you come down the belgard road, stay left for turn at newlands. It can back up a fair way back up the buslane for the turn.

It backs up quite a bit though so you may not save much time.

brilliant - that's great - thanks for the help - it took 20 minutes last friday to get from the exit to the N7 to Newland's cross................:eek: at least now I have an alternative route

Try it out OP, but as mentioned, Belgard road can get pretty busy at peak times.

Maybe try coming off at Tallaght instead, head up the N81 and take the new extension across to the Kingswood interchange and then on to the N7.
