correct club face angle on the ball

    Hi,

    Fairly new to golf so sorry if this is a stupid question. something always bugs me when I'm preparing for a shot, how do I know if I have the club face held at the correct angle to the ball? I have a logo on the shaft which I'm guessing is what I use as a reference point, but being a beginner with cheap clubs how can I trust this? also the more I wallop the ground with the club the more the club face is going to be knocked out of alignment, so surely there must be a way of judging the correct angle by using the club face alone?

    Go for a lesson or two to help you grasp the basics if you can.
    I wouldn't bother with the logo on the shaft... generally you try and aim the clubface at the target, stand in square (right angles) to this, then you grip the club and swing.

    Some instruction videos online may help.

    Start with the first few videos on that page which will guide you on the basics like setup, alignment, grip etc.

    An easy way for a beginner (imo) is to have the club face at a right angle to your body.. This applies to irons (c. 3-8) on a perfect lie and looking for the shot to go straight, it should give you a start anyway and help ball striking..
