"One mans junk is another mans treasure" What was the best thing you ever found thrown out in a skip? A good few years ago I found a skip in South Dublin with heaps of Triumph and BSA motorcyle parts including frames, motors and parts etc, myself and a mate emptied the entire contents of the skip all over the road until we retrieved every part, nut and bolt we wanted. :)

I'm pretty sure that was my €20. Was it mainly blue and white in colour with a picture of a map on it? There may have been the number '20' written on it a few times. If so, please pm me for my postal details.

Our old job used to throw out laptops after 2 years. I only found this out after I saw a load of em in the back of a skip one day. Pulled 8 of them out and sold them on to friends for a few quid each. Some worked, and some were pulled apart for spares.

A coffee table with one leg missing while on a J1 in San Diego. Our apartment didn't have no fancy things like furnishings so we were glad to have it and put it in the corner with the corner missing the leg in the corner - worked a charm. After 2 months one of the lads decided he was sick of sleeping on the floor so he puleld a mattress out of the same skip, dusted off the maggots, and thought he was lord muck.

I pulled a mate out of a skip. He was meant to be staying in my house but he got fed up waiting for me to come back from the pub so he hopped into a skip around the corner and used some wood and rubble as a blanket!

Same here, except swap San Diego with Chicago and a coffee table with recliners (proper big ass American ones), couches and beds. Good times.

When I lived in the UK there was a big office clearing out everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! Computers, printers, chairs, filing cabinets, even the delph from the canteen! I got a few of the computers, managed to get about 20 of them working, sold them and took the best for myself. We also fitted our flat out with the delph and some of the furniture!

EDIT: The office was the head office for a brewery and we got a coat of arms plaque and sold it for £150! I WIN!

    My housemate(LoveHammer) has found:
    4 televisions
    2 stereo/hifi systems
    1 basketball
    1 keyboard(musical)
    4 computer keyboards
    3 dvd players(one had a dvd in it, '300')
    1 computer monitor
    2 printers
    1 printer/scanner/fax thing
    1 standalone scanner
    1 set of colouring pencils
    1 paul mcgrath autobiography
2 bags of clothes, new, nicer than his own.
    1 football
1 tent(he used it to go to a music festival)
My eletromagnetic theory course notes, I threw them out, he fished them out of the bin,
brought them home and went on about them being cool.
    1 filthy carpet(filthy)
    1 set of speakers.

    Odd guy, good finds.

I found a lovely small dog a couple of years ago in a skip (when in Malta). I was appalled, somebody had actually left him there.Took the poor guy out and gave him my burger I had just bought. He was starving. I brought him to my apartment for the night and in the morning I took him to the vet. We found him a new owner (a friend of the vet) and the last time I saw him he was happily running around in Birkirkara. I felt immensely proud. That was a good day.

Often pull out a lot of wood. Carve it down, bit of sanding and priming, cheaper than canvas.
