Software firewall necessary with Eircom/Netopia router?

I didn't know/hear this until recently but apparently I don't need a software firewall (I use Zonealarm) if I have a wireless router (I have a Netopia from Eircom). I'd like to know if that's really true before I uninstall my Zonealarm.

I would leave zonealarm on. More config options.
