Does anyone remember these? I have some fond memories of comics like Mandy and Bunty also Debbie and Tracy. Then Misty-a really good spooky one which eventually joined up with Tammy. My friend used to get Judy. I used to race home from school on Tuesdays I think to get Mandy before my sister. My poor mother had to start buying Debbie then to keep us from squabbling! Bunty was out on a Saturday.
I can remember loads of the stories. 'Miss Angel' from Mandy about Angela-a dying rich girl who faked her own death to spare her parents the misery of seeing her suffer, who then devoted the rest of her life to helping the waifs and strays of London. 'Hard Hearted Harriet' who was also on her way out who was an orphan who was trying to find homes for her siblings-she treated them badly so they wouldn't miss her when she was gone. On a lighter note the cover character Mandy had a dog called Patch, and admirer called Horrible Horace and a boyfriend Tommy.
'Bunty' had the four Marys, I think everyone remembers them.I could go on for pages, don't want to bore anyone.:o

I remember all those magazines, then "Girl" and "Suzy" came along in 1980. While all the stories in Bunty and Tammy were animated, these were actual photo stories. It was fun reading the stories and there was always loads of them, enough to keep you occupied for a couple of days!
I don't care much for the magazines they have now. There's always a cheap toy included so the price of the magazine is inflated, then there's only one or two very short stories.

    'Bunty' was great.
I moved on to 'Diana' and 'Jackie' later.

Yeah I remember them. Then the teenager type ones like Jackie, Blue Jeans and Patches. I wasn't allowed those 'til I got older though. We were dead innocent in those days compared to the young ones now. Twinkle was my first comic with 'Nurse Nancy' with the dollies hospital-'My Baby Brother' (he's small he's sweet he's seldom neat etc.)and 'Polly's Magic Paintbox'. Cool story that, no matter what she painted would come to life. :)

Used to sneak a look at my sister's copies of Misty. Always a good, scary read.

:DMy friend's dad had some 'Playboy's hidden under his mattress. We used to peep at them when her parents went out. Shocking stuff at the time for us poor innocents:PHow we knew they were there i can't imagine. There was a 'Jackie' annual out recently with material from the mags. Had a look through it. Lots of them quizzes-remember them? You'd to tick a,b,c or d then add up the answers to see what kind of person you were or whether someone fancied you or whatever.:DLeslie Ash used to model for 'jackie', she was in it a lot.

Donny Osmond defo aged well-no harm to him. There was a 'Princess' comic that came out at the time Lady Di was first on the news. There was a class poster of Shakin' Stevens in it in a pink blazer-first one i think i ever stuck on the wall. I was a bit slow off the mark when it came to boys. My friend was into Davey Jones from 'the monkees':DMy sister meanwhile was working herself up over Adam Ant.

I was too young, I just missed them... However I remember reading a few of my sister's annuals that I had swiped. One of them had a story about a girl who went to boarding school, and on her first night there she got up to use the bathroom and got talking to another girl who was in there. The next day at breakfast she couldn't find her anywhere, and the other girls told her that she was a ghost, that they all met her on their first night...
I don't know how old I was, but it freaked the crap out of me! I mean it's pretty tame really, but I was scared of meeting a ghost for ages afterwards!
