Any video downloader accelerators available for mac

I posted on another thread about the speed of you tube and one poster recommended a videodownloader. Sadly it looks like this only works for windows. Is there any alternatives for mac os. The idea of super fast youtube downloads is very appealing. Thanks

not really a downloader of you tube videos. I'm looking for a piece of software that speeds up the buffering process.
