I used to be a member back in the ugc days and am thinking of returning.
Is there a way of booking online or bypassing the regular queues with the card nowadays, as this was lacking before?

nope still lacking, which is shame, but the card is still fantastic

personnally if you pop into cineworld before 5pm there are never any queues (unless you are trying to see dark knight on opening day)

still fantastic deal.

They dont do the online I assume because the card is not meant to be used for pre bookings.

Any idea why they dont allow prebookings ?

i dont know actually.

I just remember when I first got the card i tried to buy tickets for a show a week in advance for it and they told me I couldnt do it on the unlimited card.

I thought it might have been because previews sometimes cost more (such as dark knight which was 15 euros) but 3D films (also 15 euros) is included on the unlimited deal no problem.

it might have something to do with demand or something.

people who go to the cinema enough to make the card such a value are the same who would pay to ensure seats for a premiere/preview (like myself with dark knight and hellboy 2), so allowing prebooking on the card would loose cineworld that small bit more money that they would easily get without the demand for the cineworld card itself dropping.

but thats just my personal theory

I reckon it could be something to do with buying tickets and then just giving them away or something.

I remember a few months back when given your ticket to go up the escalators they would ask to see your unlimited card just to make sure you werent scamming the system i suppose. But that hasnt happened in awhile now.

It was great when you could book in advance and cut the queues and I remember being quite annoyed when they took it away (I believe there was a thread on it here at the time and a few people cancelled their cards over it).
I reckon it's, as above, that people were giving away tickets but to be honest I'd be happy to pay a little premium to book at times - say even €1.50. That way everybody potentially wins...

If its to do with giving your tickets away to people who dont have a card - theres a very simple solution. Make it so the tickets are only valid if you show your card at the escalator.

Its not fair that honest people who are obviously big movies fans (I dont think casual cinema goers would have the card) are being punished by not being able to pre book.

The fact that 3d films are included is great though as they pay for 3/4 of the price of the card immediately.

From next year all Dreamworks & Disney/Pixar movies will be released in 3D. Im sure in the coming years the amount of 3d movies will definitely increase. Its a very impressive technology.

Was thinking about getting one of these passes but just had a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

1) and it might sound stupid but what kind of food is sold in there? ...I know probably the usual (popcorn, nachos, hotdogs etc) but s I said in another thread buttered popcorn keeps me going to the UCI.

2) Also what is the parking situation like? As far as I know Cineworld doesn't have a car park so does that mean street prking or the Ilac?..Or does it have a car park that I aint noticed?

It does indeed have a car park (or more precisely the Parnell Centre thingy has a car park). If you follow the road to the right as you go past Cineworld and then take your first right it brings you to the car park entrance.

Cineworld doesn't sell buttered popcorn.

I prebooked TDK but paid for it.

When you consider 3D movies are about €16 - it's good value

I had 1 of these before. I found it didn't work out all that cheap when you factor in things like money spent on petrol and parking getting there for the amount of times we'd go to the cinema, maybe twice a month. I just go to UCI now.

Buttered popcorn is another negative and the reason I frequent UCI over other cinemas.

I worked in UCI and was shocked and still am shocked that people are so fickle when it comes to where to go watch a flim and how trivial things like seats and food can sway someone's choice. I've seen films in all the main southside and city centre cinemas and the presentation of picture and sound is the same each time (except with digital in dundrum, havn't seen anything digital yet)

It just seems a bit extraordinary to travel a furthur distance to sit on a particular seat! A chair is a chair for heaven's sake. In fact UCI got new seats about 18months ago

I think he is talkin about the price of the card, €20 a month and with the 3D movie been €16 its pretty good value plus all the other movies he got to see.

I remember paying less than 4 punts...and I'm only 23! One of these would get you a ticket and some sweets.

It is pricey, the same ticket is about £8.50 in the UK, but then again.

Cinema's are becoming more and more expensive here, but the way I look at is, that 10 euro is about 2 drinks, and for the enjoyment, it can be good value.

Try to stay away from the tuck shop, you can easily spend 20 bucks there!

Ive just ordered the UK unlimited card (which is 15 euro per month) with my Irish address. I'll let yea know how it works out as its 25% cheaper than the Irish alternative but can be used in Ireland.
