Don't have modern consoles only Megadrive and SNES. Ones I played the most when I was younger. Sonic the Hedgehog, Skitchin' (same as Road Rash but with skates ), Golden Axe, Outrun, GTA Vice City (PC).

I'm going to try to pick each of mine from a seperate genre.

So:

RPG - Final Fantasy Games on a console although this is tied very close with Xeno Gears. / The world Ends with you on portable, really original, it's on the DS, well worth buying or downloading.

MMORPG - Ragnarok Online, getting old now, but no other MMO gave me so much fun.

FPS - Torn between CS and Halo, but will go with Halo since I like driving and flying.

Sandbox - Shenmue, GTA can suck it, loved this game to bits on my DC.

Sports/Skating - Jet Set Radio

Racing - Forza 2, love this game to bits.

Fighter - Tekken, really love this game too.

Beat em up - Power Stone 2, another awesome game.

Puzzle/Mystery solver - Ace Attorney, OBJECTION anyone?

Platformer - Super Mario bros.

Anyway, know there is more than 5 there, but genre is easier to filter by.

Super Mario World on the snes has got to be no1 closely followed by Mario kart on the snes. Great great games indeed.
