Whats with all the complaints about tequila. Tequila slammers are the most easy to tolerate of shots.....hence the lemon.

This is coming from someone who has a stomach like a bag of old sandwiches.

Can't say I'm a fan of Sambuca, but if someone else is buying...

Jameson is the potion of the Gods, I love it straight, but (and I'd probably be shot in BGRH for this) I do mix it with Coke often. To answer Brazilia's question, the sugar is the main reason I do mix it, keeps me alert and ready for the floor! (plus it tastes good)
I find drinking 8 cans and/or straight whiskey just sends me to sleep on a night out

Had a shot on holiday over in Spain in a Danish bar, guy called it Fire Water supposedly Portuguese, had a fair old kick to it, asked him to show me the bottle he pulls up this oversized water plastic jug thing. It was feckin Portuguese moonshine.

Absinthe is pretty nasty stuff (although finding a proper bottle of it over here is hard, all cheap and not as potent knock offs most of the time). Good old Irish Poitín does the job though most of the time.

Majority of people (in the bar where I work anyway) drink Sambuca, Jagermeister, Aftershock, Tequila. Those are the usual when people come up looking for shots, most have no idea what they are drinking until it hits them and most of those shots are weak sauce to what you can find in most other European countries. :D

Went a bit overboard with Jagerbombs a few months ago. I'd be wary of them.

Everclear.. mother of god! 95%, comes in a Nitromors type bottle complete with the press down screw cap... 'orrible!

Also Straw run the 75% stuff or Bacardi 151 .. purely from the alcohol content.

    Taste wise ...stomach bitters.. foul!

    Absinthe.
Not just, the fact that's it's 75% ABV, it's just nasty anyway.

Oh man, I've had this. They called it "strong water" or the like. Urgh. Tasted like
    paint thinner.

Absinthe is not too bad, I hit the 89% stuff one night.. URGH, but still stomachable (We have a rocking Absinthe bar here).

The worst for me is Wild Turkey.. 101 proof of gut rot.

Don't like gin or white rum.

Gin is drinkable mixed with club lemon but as a shot ... rotten.

Don't know why cause neither of them are extra strong but I just don't like them.

The worst I ever had was about two Christmas's ago when in a niteclub my friend suggested we have some 'carbombs'. Being pretty hammered at the time I thought this sounded like a great idea, not knowing what a carbomb was of course. The barman proceeded to pour a half pint of Guinness and one shot of Baileys and another shot of Jameson and leave them on the bar. My friend then told me to drop the two shots into the pint and skull it back, which I did without hesitation. After the first I thought jaysus this is great, I'm just a drinking machine...give me another. So, like a drunken Christmas idiot I had another. Unfortunately, this 'drinking machine' mentality only lasted about twenty minutes when it actually felt like I was hit by a train. I can rememeber falling down in the club (what a disgrace) and then absolutely nothing until I woke up the next morning with that unmistakable taste of vomit in my mouth.

The same friend who had introduced my to the carbomb rang me later that day and told me that he had to walk me home as I could hardly stand. But, that wasn't the best part. He told me that on the way home I had projectile vomited over about four or five cars parked on the side of the road! As it was xmas it was a bloody cold night and there was a very hard frost. For the next few days all I could think about were the happy families leaving their houses on the Sunday morning before Christmas to go to mass only to find that their car was covered in frozen bulmers, guinness, baileys, whiskey and kebab vomit! Another proud moment:o

For me it's a toss up between Stroh Rum 80% and Green Chartreuse. Absinthe is quite potent also :p

I drank a shot of J&B on the rocks before - that was harsh, I was steamed at the time though.

I love car bombs! pretty lethal though alright.

Started drinking them on Paddys Day in a pub in Toronto, they get a great kick out of calling them Irish Car Bombs there.

    mmmm so good

A "friend" of mine gave me a shot of Martini Rosso (sweet martini) with a Baileys head once. Worst tasting thing ever. Why did he do this to me? As revenge for me buying him a drink.

We were cleaning out my late Grand Aunt's house a few months back and found a old Jameson bottle with a barely legible label 'Poitín' which we reckon dated back to the 1930s. Now that was some rough shít! Made my previous experiences with Tequila and Aftershock look harmless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,746 ✭✭✭taidghbaby

devils blood: a mix of tequila & red aftershock.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

Absinthe, then again really any shot makes me wanna puke.

Tequila is the only one that I can barely manage.

What's this stuff like? I have a bottle here, but I'm missing the balls to try it ;)

I heard that a good plan is put it into a glass with a mozart ball (round marzipan thingie, chocolate covered), then light it up, wait a bit, blow it out and drink it down...

If I ever survive this, I'll report back on it
