You're all wrong, it's technical term is "The Chin Rest". From the Greek "Peri" after the bloke who first named it. "Num" after the feeling one gets in ones jaw muscles after a while.

No you're thinking of getting a PA. ;) AFAIK an STI test involves a cotton swab in the japseye!

    Fixed that for ya! :P

And yes, I know that there is no such thing as 100% safe unless you lock yourself up in your room for the rest of your life ... and even at that you're likely to end up with permanent RSI in your wrist!

Or people who never take a good look or take note to be aware of the changes such things cause or have never been tested and dont' know what they have or just aren't showing the sympthoms of things like the hpv, herpes and clamidia.

I dont think everyone is answering this honestly either...

As studies have shown that more than 90% of people have had/have something...

Remember everyone that the commonly called 'cold sore' is actually herpes!... there's an STD that most people have had at some point or other?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭Wibbs

Most are exposed to cold sores, though a few don't get them even if exposed. I wen out with a woman who used to get them pretty bad. Never had one in my life. AFAIR there's a few different types simplex 1 and 2. I may have 34B but don't know it.

I believe the facial herpes virus is different to the genital herpes virus (which 1 in 8 people have anyway)

Anyway, my periodic cold sores weren't sexually transmitted (I got it from sharing cups, towels etc with my mother) so cold sores are not an STI in my books.

Other than that, at my last test I was clean.

How can so many people answer no in this poll if they've never been tested?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,296 ✭✭✭MrVestek

I was actually tested recently as I had a bit of a scare and got the all clear. Yes... they do stick a cotton bud type thing in your japs eye for all of about 5 seconds. It doesn't hurt at all it just feels very strange.

    Yep, very pert too...

They can be though. Anything you catch from sex technically can be seen as sexually transmitted. So yes I've caught STIs. A couple of colds and flus.:) Cold sores on the mouth can be transmitted to ones wobbly bits(techie term) and vice versa. Now apparently nobody is immune to these things, but if I(and others I know) never had one, yet have been exposed to the virus, how does that work? Never got warts of any kind either, yet some I knew got them realy bad when they were young.
