Train to Balbriggan

    How much is a train from Connolly to Balbriggan? And then the from Balbriggan to Drogheda? The Irish Rail website doesn't give any details because you can't reserve premier seats on these journeys.

    The fares for these destinations have anomolies as you change from the suburban to Intercity zones with different fare structures.

    Dublin-Balbriggan €3.90
    Dublin-Drogheda €14.80
    Balbriggan-Drogheda €4.70

    It is illegal to cheat the system by using two tickets on one train. You can however break your journey.

    thanks for the info!i'm not sure exactly what you mean by carrying two tickets on a train, i just may have to make a stopoff in balbriggan on the way home tomorrow.but the price to drogheda has risen again? it's odd that the stopoff in balbriggan essentially halves the price for the same journey

    A few years a ago, I had to get a train from Skerries to Drogheda and then from Drogheda to Connolly. I had a Outer Suburban annual ticket and asked the guy in the stationabout just buying a return to Drogheda and effectively using two tickets to get an Enterprise from Drogheda to Connolly. The guy in the station said it'd be ok, so I take it you can do that although I've often wondered was he just being sound.

    I understand thats allowable as one of them is a season ticket.
