    Some sick ****s out there:

    http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1320185,00.html

    ......................................................................

A mother who left her two-year-old son home alone so she could spend a weekend partying has been jailed for at least nine months.
Kelly Tollerton's son was caged in the kitchen by a baby gate and had to rummage in rubbish bags for food "like a dog".

He was discovered three days later when water from an overflowing sink filled with pots poured into a neighbour's flat below.

Police broke in and found the boy sobbing and standing in several inches of water wearing a filthy Babygro surrounded by dirty nappies and broken crockery. He was shivering with cold and had been using a pile of dirty washing as a bed.

Sentencing her at Lincoln Crown Court, Recorder William Harbage QC said: "It defies belief that any mother can treat her child in that way. In my opinion, you are not a fit mother."

She was sentenced to 18 months in prison but told she should expect to serve at least nine months.

The court had heard that Tollerton's actions were a "deliberate act of abandonment so that she could go out and party".

Tollerton, 22, said she and her 40-year-old boyfriend partied all weekend but their babysitter had let them down.

There was also criticism of the social services and health visitors and an investigation launched after it emerged the boy was placed on an at-risk register at the age of two months because he was seriously underweight.

But social services ended contact with him when he started to attend nursery.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was put up for adoption and now, aged four, has started school.
    .................................................................

How could anyone do this to a kid?

she must be in a bad way in the head to do such a thing, hope the lad gets a nice family now.
she will be out in 9months and will have anotherone on the way id say, maybe sterilising her would be a better sentence than 9 poxy months in jail.

If she scored at the party then she should be just getting out in time to have her second kinder.*

*Before anyone says just cos she scored she won't necessarily get pregnant, you're wrong. For some reason the very people who are likely to be unfit mothers always seems to be incredibly fertile.

Because we don't live in a fantasy happy happy world maybe?

Of course you could be more positive and put a nice spin on it, such as the kid has now been adopted and will hopefully live out a great life with a great family, as oppossed to the one he would've had had these "parents" not been caught.

but discuss what exactly? anyone who reads the story will think pretty much the same thing, the title of the thread says it all "some pretty sick **** out there". i don't understand how posting a horrible story like this leads to any kind of real discussion except for everyone to give the same horrified reply or make jokes?

i'm all up for discussion, but some things i find unnecessary

How do you know everyone will give the same reply?
I think she was quite right to leave the child alone. She had to prioritise:
Her enjoyment > Her child. And quite right too.

    Now you can discuss :pac:

If you want to bury your head in the sand and think of magical places with lollipops and fairies cool go ahead. It's easy, don't interact with the outside world, get a large box and climb in, don't click on the thread.

The point of discussion was what is hightlighted in red.

Does anyone from social services etc post on boards? I'd like to know how often ****ed up ****s like this would do this to kids? Never thought of adopting/fostering before but hearing **** like that...

that's a good point... i'm wondering that myself, why this thread pushed a button for me? i get frustrated with the way people are obsessed with bad news and we seem to be bombarded with it everywhere in society.

i don't mean to say that i'd rather pretend that we live in a fantasy world where nothing goes wrong. what i mean is i find a whole load of news out there really unnecessary from two points of view
    1) a lot of stories like these are terrible personal tragedies, you know, stories like people going through horrible affairs or dying in awful circumstances, not exactly news that needs to be shared - i know if i was involved i'd rather not have people around the world reading/hearing about it. the media has a lot to answer for in adding to the turmoil of people who are going through rough times.
    2) the world is a pretty miserable place sometimes, i don't understand why people make it worse for themselves by obsessing with stories that add to the misery - it seems to me that people perfer to discuss bad news over good news and a lot of what i find in the papers and on tv is negative, bad news sells so we're over loaded with it.

i think i just cracked one morning watching the news before work when the reporter announced breaking news that some toddler had been killed when his mum had been pushing him in his pram along the path and just been hit by a car. no other details, just the bare bones of the tragic death of some unknown child. i don't understand the need for that kind of news and tragedy vulture media, it grinds my gears as peter griffin would say.

man that was a rant.....i guess the post did have the effect of provoking discussion afterall ;) my apologies about sounding like a moaner!

Say she gets pregnant again when she's released from jail after 9 months [more than likely]
Will she be allowed to keep the second one?

Then who would have fought and died in the wars so that rich people could breed and capitilise on the working class's.?

Suppose you could send out all the rich folks kids to do the fighting in the trenchs ,that's if you can find enough draftt dodgers .:D

    totally off topic i know

Her jail term should involve her standing in several inches of water wearing a filthy Babygro surrounded by dirty nappies and broken crockery, shivering with cold and using a pile of dirty washing as a bed, tbh

    +1

Could not agree more. Scum of the earth people like that! Poor kid. Although could have been the best thing that ever happened to him in some ways, after all it got him away from his biological parents and that in itself will probably give him a better shot at life.

I'm very impressed that a two year old has the wherewithall to rummage in the bins for food and make a bed for himself. Says a lot for the survivability of our species.

Or maybe I just haven't been exposed to enough children.
