I've just been told, that last night (during Ghey pride) there was bomb scare at the George..

Delta Goodman was on stage and screamed for everyone to "GET THE FOOK OUT..GO AS FAR AWAY FROM HERE AS YOU CAN?!"

Then the place was evacuated, then when the place was checked everyone was allowed back in for free drink.:D

Was anyone there to say whether it was true..?

    So funny :D:D:D

    Me either.

OP: Would it have been funny had there actually been a bomb? Because they're homosexual is it? Got a bit of a personal gripe with the gay community, do we?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,021 ✭✭✭LadyE

Thats rediculas to say that because I found it funny that I have a personal gripe with homosexuals..

have lots of gay friends and stuff..and no, it wouldnt have been funny if there was an actual bomb, maybe its funny because there wasnt a bomb?? I dont know...the whole series of events, delta goodroom, everyone out on the street, being allowed back in ON THE SAME NIGHT for free drinks...doesnt quite sit right does it.

If there was a bomb hoax surely the building shouldnt be closed, for what? An hour??

Hrmm, sounds quite familiar. "I'm not a racist, I've got a black friend! Therefore I cannot possibly be a racist, despite that nazi-esque generalisation I just made".

I still don't see how it's "funny" to be honest but hey, I'm not the one with a problem with homosexuality, now am I?

Oh yes har har those damn gays were probably running around screaming in a camp manner, terrified that the place could blow up, hilarious.

So now you're telling the bomb squad how to do their job?! Jaysis, first you're oppressing homosexuals with your retro views, now you're critisising trained professionals on how they work...

Careful now, down with that sort of thing.

No I wasnt think about screaming gays running around in a camp manner ...my god.

And no, I didnt think of the seriousness of what could have been:(

LadyE, admit that it was you who called it in. You wanted to get your own back for those times they wouldn't let you in (Perhaps you used one of those voice-changing things to make you sound evil). Maybe they didn't let you in because you look like a terrorist. You should be ashamed of yourself: how long before you actually do blow the place up?

Got refused from the George - I dont know why, (I was with obv gay friends) apparently they "dont want any trouble tongiht" As if I look like Im gonna start trouble. We tried to get into nearly every pub intown, couldnt get frickin in anywhere then, because my brother didnt have ID. Ended up in some bar on O'Connell street, then to Eddie Rockets. Worse night ever.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa...

Nobody was hurt, I don't think there was any homophobia implied. Scenario sounds funny to me, purely because it sounds a bit Father Ted. Big massive terror of evacuating, only to realise (fairly rapidly, if everyone got back in for their drinks) that it was nothing. Reaction was a wee bit overdefensive, IMHO.

i find the thought of 300 gay guys running away from a hot woman like delta goodrin rather amusing.

Bomb or no bomb id see it as an oppertunity to make my own mini explosion near her.

So what's "so funny:D:D:D:" about these people having their lives threatened? You appear to be backpeddling now tbh.

I just noticed your signature, quite ironic given your oppressive views of homosexuality.

Maybe Brian MacFadden was there, he always looks one cheeseburger away from exploding

Interesting theory, perhaps we should ask the admins to get in touch with her ISP and get her details forwarded to the Gardaí?

Sounds like she could be trying to downplay the incident, in hope that it'll become similar to the "boy who cried wolf" i.e next time there's a bomb scare noone will bother leaving therefore ensuring maximum homosexual death when she actually detonates it.

First we had Jigsaw the sexual predator, now we have a potential terrorist, wtf is happening to Boards?

Having just talked again to the person who told me the full details, and got the full story , I admit that I didnt realise the seriousness of what actually happened or why..

So in hindsight, no, not funny at all. I actually thought it was a kid/a scumbag (because it didnt even occur to me that it was protestors or anything) messing and the bomb squad wasnt called (it was!) - and as I said in my previous post I thought everyone was in and and out in such quick time. Obviously not.

And no, Im not homophobic at all. I dont have "retro" veiws on sexual orientation, I jus didnt think/only heard half a story.

Note to self: Next time it's my round, ring in a false bomb warning. Bingo bango the bar will lay on a free round for the inconvenience. Javaboy escapes again with his wallet intact.

We heard the same story and yet realised the seriousness therefore you're merely backpeddling now, you nazi.

So you thought that the staff didn't ring the police (and therefore bomb squad), are you trying to say that homosexuals are recklessly incompetant?

That's not how it's coming across tbh, Adolf.

This thread still had legs but you Godwinned it. For shame.

I mean the OP has gay friends and stuff and a pink sig. Clearly not a homophobe. You're obviously paranoid ya big homophobophobe.

taxi driver told me there was a big queue to get in all the way up georges st full of them there gay folk, apparently a gang of 50 or so anti gay movement folk started beating the gays up, had bottles and chains and stuff, funny yet quite serious.
Or maybe the taxi driver was full of sh*te

I think you should post an apology to the entire gay community on the gay/lesbian and bisexual forum here tbh.

I'd suspect the taxi driver was full of ****e. As if that had happened it'd have made the news.

That said I fecked off to Spy about 11 because the pubs/clubs on Georges Street were waaaay too full.

There was indeed a bomb scare in the George last night. Everybody was evacuated and remained outside for around 90 minutes. I left the George at around 11.30 last night so wasnt around when the evacuation happened. If you check gaire or queeid forums there is a lot of stuff about it there.

    Well I think its funny.

Presumably they were all dressed like the village people and ran out of the pub squealing like little girls.

    Funny.
