Buying my second bass - 500-800 budget.

Basically, my current beginners Ibanez bass is broken. The input jack is fecked amongst other things and the sound is woeful. So I wish to buy a new bass with a 500-800 budget, I've been playing consistently for about 6 months, so I'm probably stuck somewhere between beginners and moderate ability wise.

I was leaning towards a Fender. Something like...

Fender Highway 1 J-Bass RW

But to be honest I am open to any and all suggestions.

Can't go wrong with a Jazz bass.

The Woodline J Classic is pretty much your standard Jazz bass, but entirely hand made. It's a superb deal for the money. If you're just looking for a regular J bass that's the one. They're very much traditionally styled, the tuners and bridge are in the old school Fender style. I have one of the P Classics, it's exactly what I was looking for, a top class P but at a sensible price.

The other ones are tweaked a bit, different tuners, two piece bridge and a series/parallel switch. They're still very much a jazz bass, just with a few minor upgrades. They're all great basses by any standard, but when you compare the standard of basses in their price range, it baffles me why anyone would get anything else.
