Black Pudding

On my last visit back to Ireland I stocked up on the good ol' pudding, rashers and sausages. I informed the locals of what was in the black pudding which resulted in more for me

Now that everything else has been consumed I'm left with some black pudding all for myself. What would be the best way to enjoy this as it doesn't seem right having it without the rashers and sausages. I'm thinking of just putting it in a toasted sandwich with some ketchup but maybe someone has some better ideas?

That's what I was going to suggest.

Anything else just stinks of effort.

Black Pudding with Ketchup Toasty ftw.

If you have a packet of Snax handy, have them with it.

The toast is the winner dont cook the pudding too much and then spread it nicely over the bread add ketchup and well the rest is fairly easy

Lightly toasted bread, mustard - the really strong English kind -, Black pudding of course and anchovies- yummy

probably get banned for this :-/ but I'm not a fan of black pudding. I love white pudding but the black stuff is too strong, at least it was the last time I tried it. I might give it another shot though

Black pudding with runny fried egg in a sandwich. Messy but oh so tasty. Whats up with the locals, can't you get blutwurst in the local pork butchers there or is that only for those weird Bavarians? I can't remember the local name but you can get some damn fine bacon slices known to us as rashers over there so get yourself down town and buy some rashers to go with the good old black pudding and eggs. Heaven on a plate.

Edit: google for german rasher but this is't the right stuff : "Speckschnitte"

I like the blutwurst but these same locals don't, think it's the blood!!
You can get German rashers alright (geräuchertes Wammerl), but you have to get the butcher to sort you out. They usually have Speck which is like a rasher without the nice round meaty part!

I must try out the pudding with mustard, that sounds interesting!

The continentals don't seem to go for back rashers anyway (except the Danes, of course). On all the occasions I have gone to the continent all I've found is streaky rashers which, while nice, just don't have the meat content I crave.

Black pudding (cooked to just below medium and thus still soft) , toast and blackcurrant jam ftw.
Otherwise, with a runny egg on toast with just a dash of worcestershire sauce.

i'm dying for a fry now reading this. i used to hate black pudding for years but i tried it last year again and i love it now! only Granby pudding though. no other pudding is worthy.

Another vote for the clonakilty pudding. The black is the best without a shadow of a doubt. However tesco finest white pudding is the most delicous white I've ever come across. For some reason though it seems to be out of stock with most tesco's at the moment.

I stock up on Clonakilty b/w and galtee.

Clonakilty have that lovely trad taste to it, and galtee an easy spreadable pudding, with a little bit of spicyness needed for that sambo.

I enjoy the Clonakilty by fork more than in teh sambo. Galtee for meh sambo tbh.

While fried black pudding is very nice, and grilled is okay, it's worth (if you haven't already) trying it without re-cooking it (remember, black pudding is already cooked when you buy it - frying it isn't cooking it).

A nicer, richer, more complex flavour.
