That comeback makes no sense, a bit like your spring theory :P

Messing aside, I just don't think on a spring where the diameter is constant, that it makes a difference what side the tighter coil is on.
AFAIK its just to make it act as a non-linear spring rather than a linear one, and doesnt really affect it what way its orented.
There just used to be a "right" way round on TM springs due to the hook, and I'd say that idea stuck around.

Thats not to say Id be unhappy to be proven wrong, in fact, Ive become unhealthily fascinated by it now

Well I'll be at hrta tomorrow with three aegs with backwards springs, if they break, I buy you cookies :p

You may not be the only one who doesn't understand but you're clearly the only one making an issue of it. Most people are just happy to know that there is a certain way they go in and what that way is. Why the necessity to argue publicly to get an explanation when it would take considerably less time, effort and ridculousness to just go and read up the engineering principles of non-linear compression springs?

Now. Back to the proper off-topic surreality this thread was made for.

Looks like the Marines got some new toys...

48 tonnes of armour doing 30 knots isn't half bad given it's essentially an amphibious Bradley is it...

Dont try to chastise me publicly.

You explain why then, if there is a reason that you understand, forgive me for being able to think on my own and question something even if it is precedented.
Ironically you wouldn't accept commonly accepted knowledge in the gas thread, and would get aggressive when questioned, so are you a hypocrite?

Richie isn't too sensitive to deal with a discussion on his own, so don't feel the need to wade in with such a crude post, similarly crude to when I disagreed with you in the gas thread.
Being an electrical engineer doesn't make your word god, regardless of how you may see yourself.

The spring thing was a bit of a joke, this is just bs.

I don't need to see myself as a God, I have a string of women and fans to do that for me.

Dude, chill out, I was making light of the situation. My point was this is the off-topic thread, the spring coversation already has a thread in the troubleshooting section, as linked to by richie. This is supposed to be the one part of the forum where talking about airsoft and it's componentry is not on the agenda. I'm not getting at you and that response is a little upsetting, if you have an issue with me leave it off the public area eh?

Anywho, Aoibheann Ní Shuillebhan is on tv... <drool>

So was I with richie, we get a bit heated at times sometimes with these discussions.

Perhaps I have been misreading your replys then, as you had mine, and richie evidently too.

Its difficult to tell if someone is really having a go or not on boards, I though the tongue out smileys showed that we were just messing.

Sorry If I came across as aggressive, I was responding to what I thought was personal criticism.

As Richie so famously wrote (and that's where I got the whole cookies thing from in the first place, by the way - thank him Tony, do it now!):

    Anyone want a cookie?

That could be painful, and I'd advise against it - can someone please note that on the Newbies thread please? In case there's some misunderstanding.

Whatever about being redneck, the paint work on that is absolutely awesome. Serious detail and effort in that.
