Messing aside, I just don't think on a spring where the diameter is constant, that it makes a difference what side the tighter coil is on.
AFAIK its just to make it act as a non-linear spring rather than a linear one, and doesnt really affect it what way its orented.
There just used to be a "right" way round on TM springs due to the hook, and I'd say that idea stuck around.

Thats not to say Id be unhappy to be proven wrong, in fact, Ive become unhealthily fascinated by it now :eek:

Dude, chill out, I was making light of the situation. My point was this is the off-topic thread, the spring coversation already has a thread in the troubleshooting section, as linked to by richie. This is supposed to be the one part of the forum where talking about airsoft and it's componentry is not on the agenda.
