Your other half. How did he/she chat you up?

    A very general one here.
How did your other half chat you up? Or did you do the chatting up?
Was it genuine? ie i think you're beautiful.
Was it a cheesy chat up line?
Was it set up by someone else?
Were you mutual friends or complete randomers?
    Drunken Dancefloor kiss?

    Thanks

I was at my local bar in Paris trying to read my new book while she was chatting to the barman in French waiting for her friends to turn up. Barman got us chatting (in French) but it annoyed me as I *was* trying to read. Didn't know her from Eve.

Rescued by my best-friend who came into the bar and started talking to her. I heard him asking her out and getting turned down. "Another time maybe?" I heard from him only to get turned down again.

She turns back to me and starts talking again when I realise that she's speaking in English now. She tells me that she's here to hear the band as the lead singer was supposed to be Welsh (like her). Then she looked at the title of my book and says "I like the horse's name. Binky really suits him!" and after 5 seconds of silence I agreed with her and put the book down :)

He was a friend of a friend. he came to our local one night (only lives a few miles over the road - but i never met him) He thought i was being condescending when i asked him was he a farmer, i wasn't, i was genuinely interested. Didn't have much interest in him to start but kept meeting him out, and we would chat away, it was when i saw him kissing a girl when out one night, that i realised i liked him, so i dumped the guy i was seeing (only for a week or two) and made it my business to be around him the following weekend, and it worked. He has said since that he fancied me straight away but never thought i would have interest in him. How wrong he was..

I've never have had and hope I never will have an other half.

I meet my last LTR in a club, I insulted him and then made him mind me, because my friends lost me in the process.

I changed my mind about him because he didn't feed me any bullcrap.
"I think your beautiful" is gaurenteed to send me legging it in the other direction.
Well that and I noticed how blue his eyes were.

My other half came over to me on the dancefloor and stuck her tongue down my neck. I felt sorry for her so took her home and rode her. 6 months later and I'm still with her. I never use chat up lines though when I'm single, things just seem to happen naturally.

    True romance:D

That'll be some conversation when in about 15 years your kids ask "so how did you meet mum?"

Similar to "Sex Offender." A friend introduced us, and bought us both carbombs, and before I knew it, a tongue was down my throat.

It was hot, and we’re still together.:)

She offered sex and then forgot to take the pill- I'm signed sealed and delivered.

He asked me to join the college society of which he was auditor - didn't say yes to him that year but I did the following year! I always found that being involved in college societies was a great way of meeting men - especially the Science Fiction and Computer Science societies, happy memories :D

She gave me a crate of Budweiser.
I was hers after the first can.

Our other halves ran off with each other and left us holding the babies (all 4 of them), so when we eventually bumped into each other we had enough material to keep us talking for, oh, about 18 years. It helped that there was a strong and fairly immediate attraction, too.

I got the eyes accross a table in a pub, then the bar closed early-ish and I asked if anyone wanted to continue the night somewhere else, she was the only one who wanted to. So we headed somewhere else, and had a bit of a kiss.

I was the manager of a ladies soccer team and she was a player. Kept "accidentally" bumping into her (as well as several others) and copping a feel. (Ya i know, sleezy and unprofessional but i was not getting paid and they would not let me into the dressing room/showers area either) Liked what i felt, asked her out and roberts your fathers brother! (bob's your uncle for our slower members;)) Have since quit managing them as i can't get away with feeling them up anymore..... the sacrifices you make for love:D

I don't like chat up lines, just think it's easier if they just come up and talk like a normal person without the cheese. We just got chatting in a bar, turned out we were both newly single (well me more so) and had a lot in common, he just made me laugh and I thought he was gorgeous and I could just tell he was a genuine person. Talked for hours and had a kiss at the end of the night (friends at this stage had given up and left us!) and 6 months later I'm madly in love and have never been happier.

Anyone have any terrible chat up line stories but are still with that person? Does anyone even use chat up lines anymore?!

She posted to a message board that she was depressed because her kitty was ill. I linked her to a clip of the Swedish Chef. She is now my wife.

Lady to ride? Long term ride?

I became acquainted with my SOH(Significant Other Half) after an innocent hand holding of the tipsy kind followed by a sleep. :-)

Was the first person she met in college – got her drunk on 50% vodka, ended up holding hands drunkenly on the way to McDonalds (I remember the holding hands but not much else after, but I’m informed nothing happened). I asked her out, she turned me down. I said OK, and went looking elsewhere.

Around two years later she asked me out at a friend's 21st, I said yes (after a day or two).

she was one of the first few people I met in College and it turned out that we were both the only northsiders in our group of friends in College (UCD). I had fancied her for a while and she knew it.

However it being me and me being completly inept when it comes to knowing the signs or even if I did, knowing what to do after it, also she was playing games with me that really didn't help. So eventually after a couple of months we got really drunk one night and she took advantage of me and 10 and a bit years later and we are still going out.

We had a mutual friend and we were out in our local and got chatting. Nothing happened that night but a few weeks later I was totally intoxicated and we got it on :D
