Has anyone used one of these? Any good?

I was looking at a couple on ebay..

    POST Tester 1

    POST Tester 2

Are there any other alternatives to these?

I used to have one very similar to the second link you posted. Could never get a full set of error codes though. And when i could they told me nothing more then the bios beeps.

I used to use these for my job years ago, took two home. Great devices.

But they are only useful for low level debug on Mobo's. And you have the means for replacing components(chips, caps, resistors, etc...).

Right. Well that does look like the thing that I'm after.

I was looking for an alternative for checking CPU and RAM other than connecting up a mobo to check it. (Assuming I had the correct mobo).

I guess it would require a separate RAM tester and CPU tester?
