Would anyone be interested in joining, or helping to set up, a Celebrity Death Pool on Boards.ie?

    What is it?

Well, simple really. If you join you predict two celebrities who will die within the next year.

But I could pick someone really old...

Yes, you could, but this is a game which involves point scoring, which is yet to be worked out, but could go something like this:

    >80 = 1 Point (ie Pope Benedict XVI)
Has a Terminal Illness, already diagnosed (ie Patrick Swayze) = 1 Point
    >65 = 5 Points
    > 50 = 10 Points
    > 40 = 15 Points
    > 30 = 25 Points
    >20 = 35 Points
    0-20 = 50 Points

    So, anyone interested?

    Someones been watching CSI re-runs...

Seems terribly morbid though and I don't think I could be waiting for the news HOPING that someone would kick the bucket.

(Remember though - it's cheating to murder them yourself! :) )

    🤪

What if Maddy is confirmed dead but they don't know when she died?
If that doesn't count I'll have:
    Ted Kennedy
    Bobby Robson

There was one run about a year or two ago on here, I missed out on getting my steve irwin points by a couple of days. Talk about gutted. :(

I think the way it was scored last time was you couldnt pick someone diagnosed with a life threatening condition already and that the score for the person was 100 - Persons age = Score. Person with the highest points = winner.

If its good enough for Harry Callahan to work on then god-dammit its good enough for after hours.

I think there should be some sort of odds system. Maybe we could get Paddy Powers in?

Ill go with: Osama Bin Laden and let's say... Brandon Flowers (who I'd be happy to see die)

    Amen to that!

I'm doing one on another forum where you pick 10 people. Makes it more interesting. I have Britney down for a murder/suicide with her kids, but she doesn't seem to be as nuts anymore :(

Actually is there more points if you get the way they die correct as well ? Also i'd prefer 10 as well. Though i'm having problems coming up with one at the moment.

Frank Skinner had a great skit on this years ago. 'Twas feckin hilarious.....

It went along the lines of:

"The amount of money I've seen thrown away on the Queen Mother.....oooh....and of course once you back her you'll always have to keep backing her.......'same again this year Joe?'........'I s'pose so, she has to drop some time'......she's a bit like Spain in football tournaments that way"

Of course now she's dead it's not quite the same.

Anyway, I'll take David Attenbrough and Fidel Castro ;)

I seem to have a particular "gift" not unrelated to this topic: the night before Johnny Cash died, I was talking about him with my brother; a few hours before Nina Simone died, I was talking about her with a mate; the night before Charlton Heston died, I was talking about him with my mum.

    :(

I can see how this would be fun alright, but I wouldn't ever want to be glad someone died because it proved me right.......and I would be:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,274 ✭✭✭_feedback_

On topic though, If there were 10 to choose, I'd choose a load of 1 point terminally ill people. That way I'm almost guaranteed to get 7/8 points. Everyone else is still lagging behind going on the young healthy folk getting hit by a bus theory.

    1. Ronnie Drew

    Gifted......or a jinx?

Just joking - I say Robbie Williams, he's always struck me as a tragic character.
